It can't be a prequel because i have noticed ED-209.

I dare not mention the trash movie number 3 or the horrid re-boot.

from what i have heard and read about the game is it is a bridge between the second and third movies with a few videos of what happens at the end

I know you got your reply already, but I wanna add that I really liked the way the game makes clear when in the canon it takes place. It's not too in your face "HEY REMEMBER THIS?", it's more like casual comments here and there and you just kinda figure out naturally where it is in the timeline.

Yes, i do not own the game yet. I was just curious, Im currently smashing RE Village, then i will turn to this at some point in the near future.
