Why the hell would you want to have screen tearing in ANY game, let alone shooters? That sounds AWFUL, man.
Assuming you have a Variable Refresh Rate display (any gaming display from last half a decade+, really), aka G-Sync Compatible, you want VSync always ON in Global settings of Nvidia Control Panel, plus a framerate limiter a few FPS below your refresh rate.
That is the way to go in almost any game.
Screw your update. Use a controller.
