Them "fixing" the sound won't change the game so much that it goes from "unplayable" to "fantastic", it's just extra hours for them to fix nitpick.
Cool if they do, but it's normal if they don't.

That's true. Still hurts my soul not to hear the iconic sound.
I dont get the feeling the devs will use steam for this sort of thing.
Even if you cant use the actual sound from the film just make one up in house that sounds similar. They did a really good job with the plasma weapons in Terminator but im really surprised they didnt get this one right. Its such an iconic sound how could you not have it in here.
