Ultrawide
For anyone thats unlocked the game early, have they fixed the cropping at 21:9?

If you're confused at what i mean, switch to a 16:9 resolution then switch back to 21:9 and you'll see what i mean

You're seeing less at the top and bottom compared to the below

16:9

It's amazing that people don't seem to understand what cropping is and how vert- impacts the experience. They think just because the screen space fills, that means it's natively supported when actually you can lose up to 30% vertical. This was particularly horrible with Ready or Not. Sadly the Unreal Engine seems to default games dev-side to this but in most cases, mods save the day or it can be mitigated playing at a high FOV. There's also the above config edit that may help.

I'm playing on 32:9 and it looks decent to me

Sadly the FOV only affects the world FOV not weapon FOV. I've never seen a script or any kind of .ini variable that fixes this issue. At best you get memory hacks that fix it, but it should be the devs that fix this not the community.

Ironically Jusant is as game by Dont Nod who made Vampyr which also had this problem in 21:9. Im not sure it was ever fixed.

Would be interest to see if this actually works though. I've never seen this suggested before. I'm doubtful it will do anything (not that i can test it with this game)

This is a good example from Ready or Not of how cropping affects ultrawide with the Unreal engine.

Standard 16:9 screenshot - notice the sky above the garage

Now look at the sky above in 32:9

If it was natively supported then there would be no vertical cropping and the image would scale perfectly with the additional horizontal screen-space. Also notice how the gun model is chopped off slightly at the bottom - you are losing about 16.5% off the top and the same off the bottom of the screen and it looks to be the same story with this game. It's astonishing that Unreal 5 ships with this because there is absolutely no logic of it ever existing. At least the early iterations of the engine could be edited via the config but every game seems to ship default vert- and the devs don't realise or even rectify it.

Yea, game is cropped in ultra-wide.

What a cheap way to pretend to 'support' ultra-wide screens...

I have a 32:9 monitor and I am playing the game in 16:9. So to answer the question.
No, this game does not properly support ultrawide resolutions as the fov is getting cropped.
That said, the game can still be played in 16:9 on an ultrawide display without the game becoming streched. (blackbars here we go)

As I suspected, this doesn't do anything. Shame really. Would be nice if it was a simple .ini addition.

The devs need to fix this issue.

I feel the cutscenes have also been cropped. I could be wrong on this as I haven't checked any as of yet vs 16:9, but by the way they're framed it sure looks like to me.

I've added it to discord as a bug-report. I guess well see if the devs care
Titus Nov 2, 2023 @ 12:14pm
I was hoping after the demo feedback that this would be fixed in that 30gb update we've just had. Alas, it has not been.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was sincerely going to pick up Ready or Not but I'll pass without good ultrawide support.

It should be Hor+ and the cutscenes should be adjusted. Hope the devs can fix.
