A bit of confusion with equipment: Body Armor, fast boots, mining exosuit
Hello!

Wanted to ask about the equipment you can make a bit later into the game/tech tree. I've crafted a couple of sets of body armor for soldiers and mining exoskeletons for my mining crews, and in the descriptions it says I can equip them via the equipment menu, but they never pop up. Its super confusing because all it shows is the light exosuits (and presumably soon my heavy exosuits). Why is this aspect of equipment seemingly so convoluted?

Exo suits are equipped on mission setup. There were previously individually assigned but from players feedback it was not good so we changed it that way.

Field equipment (armor / boots etc) must be equipped in the equipment tab of each gaters detail panel. Note that you can only equip one of those for each gaters.

So every gater can only wear one item? Maybe make different slots like 1 armor, 1 boot etc. So gaters could combine some items? :)
In general, I'd love to see "more". More slots, more craftable equipment... Exo suits are very extensible, but nothing else seems to be.

Note, btw, that weapons are sort of inverted. You assign people to a weapon dispenser, not the other way around. At least for the plasma weapons. The others seem to be grab at will. Weapons are only used in base defense, afaik.

I believe that unlocking weapon racks (or maybe actually building one) also unlocks 'USE GUN' event option. But yeah, I don't think they are used in 4X combat.

Aha, this finally made sense. The description wasn't super clear for me as when I went to go send out gaters on missions, I went to the equipment panel and never saw an equipment slot aside from exosuits.

For others looking for the same answer, you have to specifically select each gater individually and manually equip said item in a particular tab as stated above.

I wonder if a small infographic tutorial in-game would help clear confusion on this for anyone else in the future. Loving the game so far
And how do you unequip them?
When the Gaters came back from a mission, there where simply wearing them in the base and constantly complaining about being hungry and sleepy - seemingly unable to eat or sleep with the exoskeletons on.
Saving and loading simply deleted the exoskeletons.

I haven't had that problem, although they do unequip the suits when they need medical attention so when you go to do the next mission you have to go into the mission screen and re-equip them.

I don't think I've seen them walking around at home with them on.

You also need enough "racks" to actually hold all your suits. So say you have 5 exosuit chambers and 5 suits, you send the guys out on a mission while you build 2 more exosuits, they have no where to place them logically.
afaik, when your gaters in Exosuits come back, they are no longer in suits, and you have to wait for builders to redeploy the suits to your exosuit racks (for the next team wanting to use them). So basically, you need enough suits for your team (size) to deploy to a hazardous planet and enough racks for them to equip them from. 2 teams _simultaneously_? 2 sets of racks, 2 sets of Exo suits. You might be able to get away with fewer racks and wait for the builders to reequip them, I haven't tested, but that would be terribly inefficient :(. You can, however, totally switch from one team to another (I've done it), so long as you give your builders enough time to reset your racks.

As for guns, I've not seen any UI for equipping guns on away missions, but maybe I missed it.
