It does give me the same vibes, though, the teams walking through the gate, the swelling of music when it activates, and the story, too. The events feel very much like sitting in the base during one of the flavour-of-the-week episodes and there's an overarching story with satisfying (at least to me) Season Finale with proper rollercoaster of emotions. Even some longer chains with first contacts, when your meeting with another alien race tends to go on for two, three events as you learn more about them.
It definitely isn't polished and finished, but there's good fun into it if that's your kind of games and you like and like Sci-Fi (over 160 stories !o explore, some of them come from old SF movies or books, some of them from Comics, some of them I've never read).
With the progress in one one week since release and patch 1.0, they'll kepy their sales high and will keep developing, unlike some others alpha.
Hopefully. If Devs read this, at least let us mod it instead of abandoning it. :)
