Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization

This game is too underrated.
I find this game to be extremely fun, and the graphics are a big step forward ahead of Civilization IV, Since I can't play Civ V on high graphics, then this is the next best thing.

The only downfall I can think of, the lack of units and buildings, other than that it is a very clean, solid, and easily adjustable game.

Hello, Newman Jan 2, 2013 @ 12:42pm
I thought the same thing, Civ IV Colonization is really enjoyable, even if I think it should have more civilizations and map types.

I'm in the same situation as you, I downloaded Civ V Demo and played on low/medium graphics to reduce the lag. My first thoughts about the game: it's not as fun as the previous, it isn't even addictive. Civ IV and Colonization all the way! :)

i aggree with above comments and that 2071 mod i got for it is great!
As you can consume reasourses to make reascerch amongst other things. this reascearch is tradeable unless its maked not tradeable.

And your buildings and population demand and buy your reasourses so it can take a long time to max out your storeage.

The sea is replaced with low orbit terrain that allows you to get different reasourses rather than just food for example you can work low orbit tiles for earth goods (replaces trade goods) as well
if you are lucky to have a moon in your low orbit square you can build a colony on it and it works like a hamlet/village/town where it needs working to expand

There is a drug substance called soma (that replaces sugar) and you can grow/harvest soma and your criminal population (convicts) will use your soma but you will get money for it and you can convert your soma into narcotics (replaces rum) with the right building and get more money when your drug adddicted convits use that too you can still export to earth but as your population uses your reasourses you will export less of it and your local economy and the earth enconomy are seperate so the prices will vary between them

your spaceport (replaces dock) consumes earth goods and hard currency(replaces silver)

that just a little taste of what this mod brings so if u like the sound of what i said google colonisation 2071 and get it!

The Aunthetic Civilization mod (TAC) makes the game even better, believe me. Just remember to load the mod in-game, not by shortcuts.
