Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization

Can't play TAC
For some unknown reason, when I first installed the mod and I launched the desktop shortcut it said that the colonization.exe file has been moved or something and I should delete the shortcut. So then I moved the TAC mod to Documents/MyGames/Sid Meier's Colonization IV/ MODS so that when I launch the game I could go to advanced/load a mod. But when I select TAC and click "ok" my screen goes black with the song playing and it's like it's frozen or something and I have to force shutdown my laptop after 10 minutes of waiting and trying to shift+alt the program. Any advice?

If normal mod-launcher for "Col2" didn't work, you might try this:

search for the right config file named CivilizationIV.ini

(make sure it's the right one for col NOT for Civ4, if you also have installed it)

Example:
"C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\civilization iv colonization\CivilizationIV.ini"

hint:
You can find a shortcut named _Civ4Config in the original game path:
e.g.
C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\civilization iv colonization\_Civ4Config

(Make a backup copy of the file befor editing)

Edit the linked CivilizationIV.ini
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
[CONFIG]

...

; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = Mods\MODNAME

...
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Now the normal shortcut (or if you start game within steam) will start the game with specified mod

PS: It works only this way for me, my mods for col2 are installed under
Documents\My Games\civilization iv colonization\Mods
(same with my Win Vista 32 Bit and my Win 8 64 Bit PC)

Hope this will help

You are welcome :) Hope You enjoy the mod. TAC is one of the very well done ones.
If You want more goods and stuff You might try Religion & Revolution later. This mod has a ton of new stuff.
You can get it here (latest Version: V 2.3): http://animagination.net/Religion&Revolution/

thanks to privateer69! i downloaded TAC but when i launched the desktop icon i had the same problem as vercingetorix. privateer69's comments really helped me figure it out. what worked for me was moving the TAC 2.03_final mod from where the download installed it to where privateer69 says to install it in his PS comment.

Forget TAC and try R&R. R&R is a more extensive experience.

R&R is batter than TAC?

Since I see from your profile that you are Danish, is it a fair guess to assume you can read some german?

If so, just visit the source (and community) from the guys who made TAC for any questions:

Have fun - TAC is great!

certain symbols cause issues with mod folders, or if when you extracted it it made multiple levels of folders.

Do I have to install TAC in a specific folder to use this option? I accepted all the default options the TAC installer suggested, and neither the TAC shortcut nor the ColIV shortcut with the change in the .ini makes it work (the mod cannot be found).

Maybe something went wrong during installation and you just need to repeat the process. No need to first delete anything since any existing TAC files will simply get overwritten.

Haven't played TAC for quite a while but I just checked and everything seems to still be working fine.

I installed it, but I have a graphic-bugg ... Can't see the city-names (nor how many people are there, what they indians train me f.e. or what ressurces are needed to build a building). There are just some signs like Ü en Ö etc.
Can anybody help me please? =)

You should best approach the community behind TAC:

I am fairly certain somebody there will be able to help with your issue.
