We the people issues
I have been tryiing for the last couple of days to get WTP mode going. These are my issues. I downloaded the mod and extracted it to the MOD folder that I have in the Colonization folder. Revolution and Religion MOD works perfect and is located in the same MOD folder. So there are two issues that I have encountered. The first:

After I download the WTP MOD and attempt to run the MOD, I get XML ERROR that says this "There are more siblings than memory allocated for them......." . I get about 20 to 30 of this messages with different content within the error message. The MOD does load up but when I try to load a scenario, it crashes.

The Second issue is when I click on the setup tab in the WTP folder, I get this:

"Finishing installation of We The People

ERROR: game install dir not found
You need to install mods in the Mods folder inside the game install folder
Unlike what some people say, installing mods in My Documents will eventually result in weird bugs

Press any key to continue"

I have spent to much time on getting this to work. Can someone help me figure out these issues? Thanks!!

The directory structure should be (under steamlibrary not documents/games)-

Civ 4 Col
-- MODS
----WtP
----RAR
----other mod

The XML error seems to be a common problem potentially caused the o/s. I had it a few days ago with WTP 3.01 so I reinstalled the mod a different way and the problem went away. I can't remember which way though.

Try unzipping the mod to a temporary folder e.g. WTP401 and then copy and paste that folder to under the MODS folder.

I did try that and that is the directory structure I have. I still have those issues. Let me know if you can remember the different way you reinstalled the mod. Thanks

This is what your directory needs to looks like:
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Civilization IV Colonization\MODS
It may seem odd but mods needs to be in upper case.
Then copy the zip file into the mods directory, extract it there and don't forget to copy the 2 needs files that the mod needs into the root of colonization or just run the setup file. I actually did both.

I just installed it for the first time and didn't run into any problems.

That's the vanilla message for telling that the mod's dll file failed to load. Yes it's a stupid error message, but failing to run the modded code makes it problematic to add code for a better error message.

Make sure you install the mod in Mods\WTP, not Mods\WTP\WTP. You need to have the file Mods\WTP\Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll (WTP can literally be anything, won't change if it works or not if renamed).

Also you need to run setup.bat to copy some dll files into the game dir itself. If the bat file fails, you can manually copy tbb.dll and tbbmalloc.dll from "Copy to Colonization.exe" into the game directory (which is the one with colonization.exe and the mods folder).

Usually windows doesn't care about case. Case is however important if you play on linux using wine or proton. I think technically the game exe looks for "Mods\".

I've modded other games, sometimes it matters and sometimes it doesn't with uppercase.
And I don't use linux, just windows. But it's always better to be safe then sorry later.

I figured it out. I was putting the MODS in the Colonization folder that was under PROGRAM FILES. I should have been putting under the Colonization folder that was under steam. Thanks everyone

I keep getting this when I try to install setup. What am I doing wrong?
Finishing installation of We The People

ERROR: Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll is missing
If you are using a release (downloaded a zip file), then you likely ended up with the wrong zip file.
If you are trying to use the development version, then you failed to compile the file.

Press any key to continue . . .

It says Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll is missing, so step one is to see if you have that file. If not, then download the correct zip file, which is called
WeThePeople-4.1.zip for the currently newest release.

If you try to compile the mod yourself to get the development version, then you failed to compile the dll file and you should look at the compile guide again.
