Colonization wont initialize in windows 10

I bought Civ IV complete with the expansions. I then found that Colonization would not work with windows 7, the OS i had at the time. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and am still coming up with the inilization error. Can someone please help me figure this out. I'm also very computer illiterate, I apologize now.

I have made a review in the shop, THE only one negative review of this probleme, and do you know why there isnot other ones ? cause one have to have played atleast 5 minutes a sto be allowed to play !!
I bypassed this waiting after the error messages, waiting severals minutes. (advices : it can works spamming launches but, it take times)

i managed to get it working by going in C:\Users\x\Documents\My Games\Civilization IV Colonization , editing CivilizationIV.ini file to put
; Specify whether to play in fullscreen mode 0/1/ask
FullScreen = ask

then said "no".

I just bought this deal today before reading these reviews and I can't load any of the games total of 5 civilizations and can't open one! says windows found an error and will close and look for a soultion. I have windows 10 not sure what to do...???

i found the cause of my problem with colonization AND talisman under windows 10. These games cannot be launched if i launch Mumble before. So i launch them, alt tab , and i launch Colonisation.

Try disable the Steam Overlay (right click on the game name > Properties). Works fine for me

I have the same problem. Tried to disable the Steam overlay with no change.

Neighter does it work when changing te fullscreen option in .Ini to "ask" and answering no.

Install Civilization IV base version, go to MyDocuments, get Civilization IV config file and copy it to MyDocuments / Colonization folder.

If your problem is that it won't start in fullscreen but will in windowed mode above solution should fix it and allow game to run in fullscreen mode.

If you have both an integrated and a dedicated graphics card then you need to run the program with the dedicated GPU because the game picks the integrated one by default.

For example if you have an Nvidia card then go to your Nvidia Control Panel, select the Colonization executable and then select the preferred graphics processor for this program as the "High-performance NVIDIA processor".

Then the game will run correctly. Hope this helps!

I have the same issue. When loading the game, it doesn't and starts to switch between different screen resolutions. There's some sort of issue in the video card. Any news on this?

It has been a while but after some time I got it working, do not remember how though. Sorry
