Hi, maybe you have simply wrongly installed.
(It is a very typical beginner's error we often have.)

Please make sure you install the mod in the "\Mods" folder of the game as e.g. "WTP".
Do NOT EVER just copy the contents of the ZIP it into the base installation folder of Civ4Col directly.

Please check the following once you have downloaded the mod:
There needs to be a file "CvGameCoreDLL.dll" in the folder "\Assets".

You may rename the "<We_The_People_Root_Folder>\" to whatever you want the mod to be displayed ingame.
It does not really matter. But the general path structure to the runtime file MUST be correct.

So if you find a path similar to this, you have installed correctly:
(Replace the <> folders with the correct folder names of your installation.)

<Base_Installation_Folder_Of_Civ4Colonization>\Mods\<We_The_People_Root_Folder>\Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll

Best regards
raystuttgart

i had the same problem . It seems that there is something happening with windows. After Re installing windows and then the game , everything worked smooth.
I tried everything , even re installing Graphic Card Drivers nothing .
Once i re installed windows , it stopped.

There is no connection between WTP (our mod) and Windows.
Really never heard of that Windows reinstallation was needed to get the mod working.

You may simply have messed up the installation of WTP and put it into the wrong folder structure.
It actually happens more often than we would expect.

Sometimes even the "WTP" folder was doubled because people strangely extracted.
You should never have something like this:
".../Mods/WTP/WTP/Assets/CvGameCoreDLL.dll" (One "WTP" too much.)

If at all it should be enough to reinstall Civ4Colonization and then properly install WTP again.
Just make sure that the folder structure is correct and WTP folder is installed under "/Mods" folder of the game.

can confirm something is afoot. Struggling to get the mod going currently, game reports appcrash with msvcr71.dll, which is a microsoft runtime library file. Not sure what it all means, but mod stops launching at the same point in the xml initialization phase. (same as reported by OP)

Gonna assume its fixable locally, probably by kicking my aging win7 around a few times, but is anyone else reporting this? (I've also noticed strange graphical artifacts like missing textures from TAC_final showing up in game as walls of pink color instead. Game still playable, but F10 screen and harbour(F2) not loading background) Not sure if it's related.
Not tried to launch the game for a 6 months period, and it wasn't like this in the spring)

Solution I found(this might work if you experience similar):
- Mod launched after I scrubbed all previous mods or other files left in the \Mods folder. Kept only TAC(not necessary, but I wanted to keep it) and We The People, and made sure that the Colonization folder structure was as clean as the day it was born.

I'm guessing somehow the game was using files left over from a different mod, and crashing in the initialization when it obviously wasn't compatible with WTP.

Thanks for the update.

As I said, I really never heard that Windows itself had issues with WTP.
You need to have a clean structure in the \Mods folder of course.

In 99% of such reports the players have somehow messed up their game installation or the mods in the \Mods folder.

In really rare cases it was other stuff like a graphic card driver issue that could be solved with an update.

If the mods folder cleanup itself does not already solve it, a full 100% reinstall of the game and following the mod installation instruction normally does.

----

By the way:

What other files in the /Mods folder ???
(That sounds like the reason WTP crashed on your installation.)

The only thing you should have there are the root directories of single mods.
i.e. below /Mods there should be absolutely nothing else than such folders:

/TAC
/WTP_3.0.1
/DoaNE

----

But well good to hear the problem seems solved.
Enjoy the mod. :)
