Error creating file....cannot save.

I used to be able to play and save the game fine. Now, whenever I try and start a new game or save one, I get an error message and I cannot save the gamr. Error mesage:

Error creating file c:\Users\(my name)\Documents\My Games\Civilization IV\Server\single\*save game name)

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and running as administrator. Anyone have eny suggestions?

Try to create a file in that dit and check permissions
Also check if your username has special chars

Thank you for answering. I can create files in that directory, and there are files in it from previous saved games. My username has no special characters.

this is the save location ofr civ4 col in windows:
My Games\Civilization IV Colonization\Saves\single
It looks you are trying to save in civ4 location, not civ4 colonization

Does the game load save files from the same location fine?
I suggest you load a game, note the location and try to save in the same location.

When the save error pops up, it shows the directory and I see the previous saves in it.

I can load old games from that directory but I cannot save any game (new or old one) in any directory anywhere. I get that error no matter where I try to save.

Try to disable cloud save and try to move the save files elsewhere to see if it helps

Indeed looks like a file permission problem. Try running the game as administrator and see if it solves it.

Alas, it did not. Eventually I gave up. May try deleting the game folder and reinstalling. I thank you for your help.
