Mod: Religion and Revolution
Dear Folks,

As I recently recognized Colonization 2 is available on Steam and some of the new player here mentioned the same things which have mentioned in the past in all the relevant gaming forums, I think it make sense to give a hint that there exists a great forum (Civfanatics) which offer some great mods which have been published in the past. Some of them are still being developed and new versions are regulary published.

One of them is...

Religion and Revolution

Religion and Revolution is a huge modification for Civilization IV: Colonization. I would say it is not only a mod, but it is a complete overhaul of the vanilla game. At first it was a spin-off of the German Mod "The Authentic Colonization" which has been finished some years ago. But over the years it has been developed to a complete self-contained mod for the game with a lot of new features:

- New game interface
- New game events that make the game more interesting
- New game achievements
- Complete new good system with its own trade route system
- Micromanagement can be done (but this is not a must-do)
- Complete overhaul of existing unit and building graphics
- New unit structure, in particular of the military units
- New units and new professions
- Additional native nations
- New leader traits of all existing leaders to make them more different
- Overhaul of the existing leader traits
- New port (Port Royal) that can be used for smuggling in the New World
- New (historical correct) maps
- New European Nations (Portugal, Denmark, Sweden and Russia)
- New city graphics and new map graphic
- New improvements on the map
- Wild animals on land and see
- New Founding Fathers
- Pirates which attack the player in middle and late game
- ...

The mod offers great opportunities for different player styles. You can of course settle in peace with the natives like the French, you can conquer the New World with the Spaniards, you can built a new nation with the British or bring one of the smaller nations into the New World like Sweden or Denmark.

If you like micromanagement you can spent hours for supplying your colonies or you can do just the "classic" trade with Europe as in the vanilla game.

You can create your own colonial empire until the increase of the taxes required the war of independence for indepence from the mother country.

The AI has been revised and works better than in vanilla. However, there is still room for improvement, since the vanilla AI is so bad.

The mod is still under development and new features and improvements are planned.

You are invited to have a look into the forum[forums.civfanatics.com]. Make yourself familiar with this great mod that will definitely give you a fantastic game experience.

And if you are a modder..of course you are invited to participate in the development of this mod as well!

Regards

Schmiddie

The mods are a must for this game.
Age of Discovery
Dawn of a New Era
Religion and Revolution

I played them in that order and each one added more gameplay and depth, both interesting and challanging.
R&R blew my mind with how much was added and modified. Whole new game.

Thankyou modders :)

100% agree!!

they all make the game quite enjoyable, and while a few share features, they all play very uniquely too.

Hi. I'm using 2.6, No Wild Animals are spawning and when my unfree colonists run away they simply disappear. Is it possible to solve this problem ?
Schmiddie Oct 18, 2017 @ 11:56am
This issue comes up on some scenario maps. It has been fixed.

In v 2.5.1 everything worked. I have the problem remained, as in the random game. we looked at a few maps in WB no Wild Animals. What could be the problem ? Settings didn't include - "no animals land & sea" Or worth the wait v 2.7 ?

On the forum found a solution, everything works fine. Thanks for the good mod

The maps will be revised in 2.7 but this will need some time.

Is there an explanation anywhere of how to install the mod? I see the download button and I get the zip file, but after unzipping, what do I do with it?
Farflame Oct 20, 2017 @ 9:05am
I have the game on Steam. I've looked in the folder but there is no 'mods' folder. It says to drop the entire folder in the mods folder but since I don't have one, what should I do?
Schmiddie Oct 20, 2017 @ 10:36am
The mod folder is not in the Steam game folder. You should find it under "My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Colonization". Put the content of the ZIP file into this mod folder.

@cola-rum-schmidt

Thanks a lot for for tipping me off that there is such a worthy successor of TAC!

I used to play TAC a lot and Religion and Revolution not only looks absolutely great but even seems to currently still be under further development. More features can be expected!

Fantastic! Thanks again.

This is just a quick update to let you guys know that we're still working on what will be RaR version 2.7. So far a significant number of bugs have been fixed relative to 2.6 and the AI is getting improved as well. There's also rebalancing\tweaking of numbers as well as nicer graphics to drool over :P
We'd be happy to have additional team members since there's tons of stuff to do :D

Is the AI documented anywhere?

Hello. I just downloaded your mod and have it in the mods folder and have it loaded in game and it says Religion & Revolution in the top right hand corner of the menu but there is no difference It is still vanilla. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I believe I experienced the same issue. Turned out I had one folder too much.

I only had to remove the redundant folder for the mod to run fine.

The path with the mod files looks now like this:

...\My Games\Civilization IV Colonization\MODS\Religion_and_Revolution_2.6
