America Map?
havent played this in years, now after i bought this and missing North and South American Map, only see debug, New World and Caribbean Map. So there is no North and South American Map in this game from Steam.

Yeah, I'm curious about this issue, too. There used to be Americas maps for the Steam version of the game when I played it before, but when I tried the game another time more recently, the maps were gone....

Checked the map folder and isnt there lol. Glad i still have my box version and this steam without the America Map isnt worth it. So dont buy it.

Not a solution, but install Religion and Revolution mod or TAC they have both exellent maps for both americas. Cheers !.

Yes using those mod is not very accurate, not only it look good but the AIs would have problems as well. So it is best to keep the orignal maps.

Anyway i manage to transfer those missing maps to Steam Version, dunno why they left it out. It work fine for box version i have. Play fine here on steam with those maps here. Seriously they need to fix that, not very many people out there know how to do this or even look it up.

Yeah me too. I just bought it on steam yesterday. I used to play it long ago and I seem to remember in the patch in 09 they had several maps and scenarios. They also had an alternative random map option that was much better than the 2 we have. I think it was called Faireweather or something. I guess I'll go download all that stuff from somewhere. But it seems odd because if you look at the version it says final version 2014. You'd think they'd include a patch from 2009!!

Well i did grab the TAC maps and gotta say they did a great job on it. Look like they put alot of work into it. One thing i had to correct, from Ozzy correction to TAC that one native settlement was in the wrong place (north of Albany) got push so far above the great lakes. The cost to build ships and wagons, had to balance it out too. It was asking too much cloths to make it. And each strength of those ships would multiply guns by ten. For example this ship has str of 3, would be 30 guns, etc.

Couldnt stand the music in that game, got this movie and found sound track of 1492 conquest of paradise. It is about an hour long and it fix perfectly in that game. I had no idea it was directed by Ridley Scott, he did a great job on that movie.

Sadly i dont see George Washington in that TAC game.

Solution:

1) Before you install the game: choose properties by rightclick on the game and under BETA choose original_release_unsurpported .
2) install the game

If you want the latest update:
3) go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Civilization IV Colonization\PublicMaps\ and copy the content.
4) as 1 but choose no beta.
5) paste the copied content from 3 back into the folder.

Thankyou for this. :steamhappy:
Thank you for some good clues lads. But this can be done also for existing instalation, not just for new one. You simply follow the steps as said before: choose properties by rightclick on the game and under BETA choose original_release_unsurpported and then let steam update your game. Magic trick done, you now have the maps. Thank you once more because I was also wondering how to get them ;)

This works like a charm, thanks mate!! My understanding is that you can choose these maps under "scenarios" but not "custom game"

Used to be on the Steam version, disappeared as few years ago after an 'update'.
