Unstable frame time with FSR + Frame gen On RTX 3080
Dlss and fsr have no issues. As soon as i have frame gen on, the frametime is so erratic making it completely unplayable. Much smoother when playing without it on, even when the frame rate is lower. My fps with fsr on, without the frame gen is 55-60 fps, so i thought it would work fine with them both on. Anyone else experienced this?

Same

People are delusional. It feels like it's copying the latest frame instead of producing approximate frame between.

Not even a slightest difference in fluidity, i am so disappointed.

Hey, if you enable external framerate cap (lower than your avg fps), it is indeed much smoother visually, but the latency really suffers. FSR3 doesnt look like it's implemented properly ATM.

Hmm that must be why it looked smoother with v-sync on @ 144hz ?

The problem is both dlss3 and fsr3 suggests you to have at least 60 frames to begin with.

Simply it gives a little more fluidity without any response time improvements if your game is already working well. Right now it is an overrated feature made up to sell more hardware.

Yeah also have a 3080 and at 120 it drops frames too often resulting in bad frame times and looks and feels rough. Not much worse than if I run it unlocked it goes between 55-80. Seems a 60fps cap and dlss is the best option still right now. It's disappointing, was hoping it could smooth things out and make things a bit nicer.

Use Nvidia Control Panel VSYNC ON.

As for limiting framerates with Frame Generation: with DLSS3 you don't really have to, Reflex will cap for you.

With FSR3: use Nvidia Control Panel Max Framerate feature. DO NOT use Rivatuner's framerate limiter with either DLSS3 or (now) FSR3.

Ah thank you, Rivatuner was messing with it real bad. Will have to play around with it to see if it's actually worth keeping on, but at least seems to be working properly now

I suggest you set both the "Model Memory" and the "Texture Memory" to "Standard" and you will find it much smoother. By the way, your framerate is quite low. Are you playing at 4K UHD resolution? I have just played it with FSR3 for several hours and it worked quite well on RTX4070 at 1440p QHD resolution.

I've tried turning on V-Sync through Nvidia Control Panel and it has made the game frametimes much more stable for me. Definitely worth trying it.
It still has some issues but better overall feel in-game for sure.

For me it only works with FreeSync/G-Sync disabled in my monitor settings and Vsync enabled in game.

enable in game v sync

Just cap the framerate with Riva Tuner...

Make sure for the FSR 3 mode setting you use: Quality : and not : Native AA : the Native AA setting is messed up and it will look like you are running 20 or 30 FPS(your eyes will hurt) even if you FPS monitor apps say it is running 120 if you have frame generation on. There is some crazy sync issue with that mode.

I also don't have free sync on and in game I have : Vsync = On . Another thing if you have Windows set to VRR = On turn that off and just let FSR 3 do it's thing.

I bet most likely you have FSR 3 mode set to: Native AA : since that is what is the default, nuke that and it should be good.

Good luck
