I compared 60 fps FG off and 70 fps FG on (I changed the graphics settings to try and match the fps between the two, the settings I used for FG on is ~38 fps if I turned FG off) and the "real" 60 fps FG off looked and felt much smoother. I recorded a video of walking no mouse input and counted 38 distinct frames over 1 second of footage with "70 fps" FG on which matches my subjective experience that it didn't look or feel like 70 fps should. I also tried turning all the settings to minimum to get the highest fps which was ~160 fps FG on and it didn't look or feel different than FG off 80 fps.
Wondering if this implementation is broken or the feature is not effective. Gonna wait for some YouTube videos that have actual capture cards (my AMD encoder not very good) and can do a better examination of the technology.
Kind of reminds me of Catherine game that claimed to be unlocked framerate reporting 300 fps but feeling like 30 fps.
If given the choice, i would still go with dlss but fsr 3 is not a bad option after all. Hopefully previous amd sponsored titles like re4 and tlou 1 remake will have this option in the future.
- Excellent input lag compared to pretty much any DLSS3 game I have played, to add specifics here, CP2077, Warhammer 40k DT, Atomic Heart and Immortals of Aveum, with the latest two being an horrible experience on all fronts while DLSS FG was active.
- Quality is still lower than DLSS, and here I am comparing with DLSS2 in this game. Example looking at grass when moving the screen both FSR and DLSS is leaving artifacts, but AMD solution is slightly worse, but not by much. There is room for improvement it's definitely a better launch than DLSS which let's remember first DLSS3 FG games where unplayable due to artifacts
-I had no issues as severe as some make it to be with the erratic 99% FPS , little drops to mid 50's while in a while with the rest being above 80 all the time. which takes me to the conclusion that it's something that goes wrong with some users, drivers, Resizable BAR maybe,
To add more I played at 1440p
I really couldn't feel much of a difference in impute lag I am using anti-lag which is on by default for everything for me it felt like the impute was above 60fps which is perfect for me but looked like it was 100fps in smoothness for me.
When I played on a game-pad it was basically unnoticeable to me there wasn't any choppiness or stutters there was a very small amount of ghosting which i had to really look close to see and the shimmering was lot better than FSR2 in my opioion to the point I kinda forgot there was shimmering.
But overall I'm really looking forward for FSR3 to be in Cyberpunk, Starfield and hopefully Hogwarts and all upcoming game's from now on I'm blown away with how good FSR3 was i thought it was going to be a ♥♥♥♥ show.
That is very odd with the fluid motion preview driver it says it works best with Freesync enabled, ofcourse it will frame double outside freesync range in my case but even then fluid motion been overall smoother then FSR3 in Forspoken
So perhaps i need to retest Forspoken, im willing to bet if this is indeed case they auto configure freesync to be turned off or work with FSR3 in future drivers if not the preview drivers, since Fluid Motion works better so far.
After I finished playing around in Forspoken to experience FG, I turned back on FreeSync. I read this comment so I launched the game again. FG was still working but my FreeSync is on. Then I disabled Vsync in game and as expected it stops working. But then I enabled Vsync again and it's not working.
So it did work for me with FreeSync on and Vsync on at the same time until I toggled Vsync off then back on and now it's not working anymore with FreeSync on. I'm gonna assume it's one of those finicky implementation details of the software and my hardware that someone with much more technical knowledge than me could figure out.
With freesync enabled it supose to lock refresh rate at max bassicly not engage freesync i believe that does not happen for me either but it tries to.
Cool, yeah for some reason it does not like FreeSync or VRR i have those off as well. Also for me the FSR 3 setting: Native AA : just breaks everything in terms of sync and it looks like it is 20 FPS or 30 and makes my eyes bleed. The FSR 3 : Quality : plus frame generation on is the best setting and mega smooth!
Glad you figured it out, I should have posted those details and to keep Vsync = On in the options.
The 2060 Super is more than enough in 99% of games at 1080p, I max out almost every games at 60+ fps but I have a 170hz monitor, so, bring on the fps boost, I'll take it. I don't understand why the game is so hated. Yes the main character is not likeable, the way she talks is a bit irritating (like a frustated blue hairs feminist, she sounds like Alloy in Horizon...great game but the main character...not likeable) but the gameplay is pretty fun and her magics are cool. Plus, it loads saved games almost instantly on my gen 3 nvme. It's crazy fast. I LOVE direct storage.
