There have been franchises that started out average with their first title, but then improved greatly in the sequel.
Assassin's Creed
Soulcalibur
The Witcher games
Fallout
Forspoken had potential. Traversal is good, the magic is interesting.
The isekai thing may have been overdone to hell and back, but titles like Rising of the Shield Hero showed people that there can be great stories in the genre, if writers put in the work.
Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that Luminous already had the shadow of Final Fantasy XV looming over them, so failure...
Well, we saw the news, didn't we?
Games are a very competitive scene and mostly devs don't get any second chances. Especially if we talk about a supposedly AAA game, which lost tons of money. It's not like Square will do the understanding parent thing, pat their heads and tell them to try again and give them money
Can you give us the source for your assumption that they "already work on a sequel" ?
The article says that they were planning.
It says nothing about if they are still planning, after the "merge" went down.
But they also provide no evidence that they are still working on it after the "merge" happend.
If Square comes out with a statement : "We are working on Forgotten 2"
than I belive you, but until then highly doubtful.
The game failed, it was mocked, ridiculed, memed to hell and back in the worst way possible, and held up as the embodiment of everything wrong with MODERN GAMING™.
Wasted potential doesn't even begin to describe it.
Don't you have games to play? Or is defending this game the only source of entertainment for you?
