Japanese Voice Acting
Let me just say that since changing the voice acting to Japanese it has been much better, Frey actually sounds alot better when speaking and in combat as well. Give it a try and you'll see for yourself.

Black (or white) girl from NY getting teleported to another dimension and suddenly having magic power due to a talking bracelet is also weird.
So why not a sudden change of her language as well? It's fantasy. everything is possible.

It may be "weird" but considering VA quality, if you care you typically use Japanese. Their industry has self-respect in a way ours doesn't.

Thats always such a pathetic cop out. Just because something is fantasy doesn't mean no coherent world logic can exist. In fact, often in fantasy and/or sci-fi when such coherent world logic fails, it introduces plot holes and bad writing in general.

Lord of the Rings is fantasy, so why not feature time-traveling space wizards in the 3rd movie who bring laser guns from the future to help with the war. Its fantasy, nothing weird about that. Just suddenly break all logic, its magic aint gotta explain ♥♥♥♥

There are a ton of high-profile western voice actors that put in work and are praised for it. Christopher Judge, Nolan North, Jennifer Hale, Cam Clarke, just to name a few. This game has an incredible voice cast, too. Ella Balinska, Claudia Black, and Debra Wilson are all putting in good performances. Pollyanna Mcintosh, the voice of Prav, does an incredible job playing a lunatic judge.

Japanese VAs are good, but they also overact in a way that's traditional to Japan. You just don't notice how unnatural it sounds unless you're used to everyday conversation.

I don't really know what everyone's complaining about regarding this game's acting. There a few stiff deliveries, but even award-winning games like God of War Ragnarok have those. Overall, I find the voice acting is great where it counts and the flat lines mostly pop up in random banter.

Being praised for work does not mean it's good. Ella's delivery is not particularly talented or natural at any point I have seen.

You're asking for coherence? In a fanatasy game?
You don't know what that bracelet could have done to her.

Coherent would be if noone but her would actually know English in this game but everyone else talking in their own language.
How should Athians know how to talk English ?

Therefore it doesn't matter which language you actually choose. Every language is fine if you feel confident with it.

Yes there are some amazing western voice actors, nobody is debating that, but the woman who voices Frey has never had a single voice acting gig on anything so her first one is just bland and stale. I got to Tanta Sila and changed it and have not regretted it. The Japanese voices are just far better. Start on English and try charging up Frey's fire fist spell and hear how she screams and then switch to Japanese and do the same and you can see just from that alone.
lol

I usually use Japanese voices when I play games that have the option, this game was the ONE game I gave English a chance XD It's .. fine, to me, but I might switch to Japanese just to see. Although comparing a English VA who's had what, one voice acting role vs a Japanese VA who's had a ton more seems a bit unfair.
