That's 3 orders of magnitude difference.
According to the Steam Hardware surveys it seems in 2020, the percent of gaming computers using 16GB was the highest compared to all the other amounts of RAM.
Three years ago.
Lust updated my 2012 mac Mini from 4GB to 8GB and it too runs like a charm now. :)
Last updated my 2012 mac Mini from 4GB to 8GB and it too runs like a charm now, seriously. :)
On my gaming PC, going from 16GB to 32GB was well worth it. And even 8GB to 16GB on my gaming laptop. :)
Is this a new type of DDR?
I'm at 16 gigs myself. Can't upgrade to 32 yet as I need to get a stronger power supply first. Anyways that said - game runs fine for me.
A: Make sure your graphics drivers are updated.
B: Nvidia control panel (if you're using nvidia) is your friend.
C: Set your ingame settings accordingly. Remember that this is a fast-paced game. Fast-paced games = Performance over Quality. Save Quality for taking pictures.
According to the Steam surveys, 8GB is still the second most popular, so it sounds like you are correct.
If your PSU cannot handle enough for 6 more watts of power then you are, I suspect dangerously close to the limit of your PSU.
What PSU do you have - make, model and wattage?
Did you use one of the dependable PSU calculators to reach that conclusion. Here is one of many: https://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/
'As a rule of thumb, however, you want to allocate around 3 watts of power for every 8GB of DDR3 or DDR4 memory.'

To name a few - Dead Space needs 16GB. Valve recommend 12GB for Half Life:Alya. 12GB for ELEC II, DCS World needs 16GB. Many of the better VR games need 16GB,
Just talking about the lower limit. To get good performance, etc the amount is ideally higher. :)
