I preisntalled this game in 20 minutes before. The steam download is literally broken. I made the mistake of reading a couple post that said it was faster to just reinstall but its not true
The thought process was that any other time I have trouble unpacking a pre-loaded game, deleting it and redownloading always worked. I've also seen many people recommend doing so over the years.
preinstalling isn't the same thing as unpacking. one requires your processor to be pegged at 100% for a long time. Deleting things randomly is never a solution to anything
I see your point but if I completely wipe the entire game from my system then I dont see why it cannot just download as normal. The fact that I deleted it still doesnt make sense as to why the download does not work
Because if you delete things out of file explorer etc you are messing up databases within steam. You can't "completely wipe entire game from my system" if you are not deleting it through steam. I don't know what you did
When you say downloading everything from scratch, do you mean redownloading steam itself?
No, just the game. The depotcache has your pre-downloaded files. Just go to SteamLibrary\steamapps\depotcache and see if you have files with the appid 1680881 or something similar and delete them. There might be a lot depending on where your download got stuck. Mine died at 97 gigs unfortunately, so had a bunch of files in there to delete.
no just the game itself. I first uninstalled off steam client via right click and uninstall. Then i proceeded to go into file explorer and delete the empty "Forspoken" file that was left over. No my download i just bugged
