Protective Anklets - Bug or as intended?

Hello.
I found the protective Anklets but they barely protect me at all. Either on lava or acid, I can survive maybe 3 seconds, what is 3 seconds more than before, but it is not enough to reach certain areas or get out of there before I die. Is this the intended behaviour or there is something wrong?

If you have them , acid will give you like 3% of damage of health bar per seccond.
Lava will do more damage like 50% per 0,5sec*
Without them touch of lava or swamp is instakill.

To survive Longer in Lava (if you need to walk on that)
You should collect Ankhs to increes your MaxHP

Can you provide video?
What platform you playing on?
Do you running some mods?

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I guess that is about right. I just expected a better protection. But it is what it is.
