MacOS constant Steam Cloud Error (syncing)?

I have Golden Idol installed on a Mac (M4) laptop, a PC, and Steam Deck. PC and Steam Deck are able to sync and read from the cloud just fine. The Mac version is constantly showing a "Steam Cloud Error" no matter how many times I reinstall. Loading in MacOS also doesn't seem to give the option between original and Redux, so that might be part of the issue?

(I beat the game on original, then converted it to Redux on PC and played the DLC from there)

This person says they had to manually download the save file from https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=1677770
I haven't tried it because I am in the middle of the DLC on Mac, and don't want to overwrite that progress with the other save.
