DLC story questions - full Spoilers (for DLC)
Although I overall like this game, it already annoyed me in the main game that they don't explain a lot of wtf is going on and the same is true for me for the DLC.

So after finishing it I'm left with several questions:

1. I heard the letters the prince (and dead princess) have in 2nd case has a hidden message, but I cannot figure it out. I assume it connects to the message with the LION-picture, but that I also couldn't figure out (Picture is the KEY), so why is one word "ocelot"???
How to figure out the hidden message?
2. This likely ties in to question 1, but why did the prince throw the bottle with the deadly beetle in the eye of the ritual "casket"? In the one item he possesses he says he is happy if his sister is chosen, so he kills her?
3. Again second case, why is Zubiri charged with murder (of the princess I guess)? Is he framed? How?
4. What the heck was the first part of the plan of the spider? He knows Zubiri is at the card game, so he assumes that if he plays against Bill, Bill will try to murder him and he will be able to save his life? Huh? Since he wasn't even the one who killed Bill this plan already seems pretty far-fetched

I dunno, but this game imo really could do a much better job in communicating its story, it always feels like you solved a puzzle but you don't get the full picture at all and the stories they tell are definetely not self-explanatory (and also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-insane)

  1. The picture of the lion is the key to the message. One word in each row is most (however loosely) related to a "big wild cat". That message is already decoded for you, though (first letter of each word = "YOU WILL BE HEIR")

The letters sent to the prince and princess tell you the key is the statue. Using the same logic, you can decode the letters.

    The prince: https://i.imgur.com/ewKfV1G.png

It says "IF YOU FAIL LOOK INTO MY MOUTH", which refers to the test the heirs have to take. The prince failed, so he looked in the mouth.

  2. He wanted to be heir. And he believes death is an illusion.

  3. The method used and the fact that they were the only outsiders inside.

  4. It was certainly optimistic of the spider to assume this would work. He knew that Zubiri was a very good player and that Bill cuts the ears off of cheaters (or anyone who beats him), so he invited the other guys to attack Bill when he went off.

2. In her letter to the swordmaster the princess mentions that Putra's (the spymaster's) agents keep searching the rooms and possessions of the heirs (to find out who is getting secret correspondence and to prevent cheating during the test).
So I guess both potential heirs wrote in their diaries how much they respect their sibling to throw Putra off their trail.

3. The holy ritual went wrong and the heir died. So the Lemurian Saint who was supposed to make sure the heir survives is found guilty of murder.
SSince the Rahja lost a child of his, he ordered that as punishment the Saint was to loose their child (Zubiri) as well - eye for an eye sort of justice.

Yes, good point. The Lemurian delegation came to perform the ritual. And the Spider sabotaged the ritual to sour the relations between Lemurian kingdoms on behalf of the Seven Seas Shipping Company, which kind of backfired because the Raja also got the location of the idol to smooth it over.

Ah right so the lemurian is in charge of the ritual, that's why he is depicted in the ceiling-mural on both sides. Makes sense.

Additional questions:

1.According to the note Putra Sun has in the final case, he and 2 other guards are supposed to guard the front door, so why is only one of them doing so (and getting killed by Oberon) ?

2. What is the meaning of the water state in the final case? So I figure the following
-state is at 6 when spider Escapes
-the image shows state at 1 at 8 am and 12 at 8 pm so it would depict the current time as 2pm
-his schedule shows 2pm "Buy supplied for boat trip"

So what? It is obvious from his footprints that he escaped by boat and had no impact on anything. What is this information for?

Oh, it is 2 AM and that means he was in the meeting with old butterfly (scheduled 1AM)... though that also doesn't tell much, since you don't get any more information about the identity of old butterfly and you see it in the pictures also. So what information does solving this riddle provide?

The old butterfly is the lemurian Saint - you can guess his identity from the comic, which Oberon left to mock Putra, on the table inside the press building.

If you know who Oberon was meeting last you can deduce who is under the mask of the person that was apprehended.

right, so I guess it went down like this:

- Putra Sun and 2 guards approach the front door
- 2 other guards wait in the boat
- Spider sends Lemurian guy down the hatch
- Lemurian guy gets arrested by the 2 guards in boat
- they call their boss
- he orders the (unlucky) guard to guard the front door and takes the other guard with him (for some reason) to apprehend the "spider"
- spider escapes through front door (disguised as Lemurian), kills guard and escapes as is depicted

Or do the three front guards actually let him pass since he is disguised, but then there would be no need for him to kill the one guard...
I also didn't understand why the spider chose to take a bath in the pool with the red ink before proceeding to the boats (red foot prints)? It looks as if he deliberately chose to ink himself red since the basket stops besides/before any of the pools so he was not forced to exit the basket by jumping into the red pool. And he even had something bigger with him judging from the shape of the red ink he left on the ground. Any clue what this means?
