Stuck on Act 3 (freezing something perfect in time, like a picture)

Hi, I’ve already done Loop’s hangout and helped everybody, and now I have to find out where the King was born. Looking at the diary in the House library doesn’t help, and neither do the posters in one of the bedrooms. When I talk to Loop she says:
"Freezing something perfect in time... Like a picture."
Pls help I want to actually finish the game, what should I do?

Have you tried checking the Observatory on Floor Three? If you already looked at the article in the Floor one bedroom, that’s where I remember I had to go next. If you don’t remember where the Observatory is, it’s through one of the dead end tear barriers on Floor three, the one directly across from the pottery room.

Try looking around and interacting in there, if that doesn’t get you going again let me know.

Yes I have :( Is it possible that I’ve done things out of order and the game doesn’t recognize some events as played through?

Did you try going back to the king to ask him something? If you didn’t talk to them after the observatory already that should definitely be it.
Give it a shot, if that works you should be set.

I have, but I got no new dialog options. I could only ask him where he's from, then he asks Frin where he is from and to say the name of the country but he can't.
From what I've seen in walkthroughs, there's a moment where Frin talks to Loop and tells himself "I need to look at that diary again" or something like that. I think I've done everything I'm supposed to but I'm still before that stage :/

Ah, I know this one, I actually had to ask loop myself on the first playthrough because it wouldn't click for me either, you have to go to the mirror on floor three and go through the picture stuff, at which point Siffrin will realize some stuff. Honestly I think this was the most vague part I had to do in the entire story, mostly just because I'm not used to mirror's taking pictures (for obvious reasons), so until I asked loop for help it didn't cross my mind.

Oh THAT must be why I was clueless on what the missing piece is, since I think I did that completely on my own just by going through things without asking about it

No problem dude! again, I think this was personally the most vague the game got for me, just because when when it said to look for something captured perfectly in time my brain just couldn't click with anything because the entire house is LITERALLY frozen in time so anything would've gone (and again, we're talking about a mirror taking pictures here). it really took the picture part for me to actually get it. Hope you enjoyed the part that came after though, the end of the stuff with the king has to be one of my favorite parts of the game!

If anyone else is as confused as I was at this point—even with AriesIgnitor's hint "go through the picture stuff" in mind—what you have to do is
take the picture again. I was stuck here for quite a while because I always looped to floor 3 with everything already unlocked meaning the picture was already taken, and just looking at the mirror, the picture in your inventory, or the pictures scattered across the floor did not seem to do anything. But once I looped to floor 3 with all the doors still clowed and then I looked at the mirror (=actively took the picture again) the story did finally advance.
