Mira's Fan quest?

So I'm in act 3 and still haven't completed the Mira's Fan quest. I'm not sure exactly what I'm missing. I go to the house of change, I go to the classroom, examine the desk where Mira talks about her classmate, it prompts me to talk about it next loop, I talk to both Mira and the fan and nothing changes

Is there a specific item I need to get, or specific order of operations to activate it?

I completed this quest by talking to the fan, then talking to Mira about having a fan. Mira doesn't remember. Then I went to the desk in the same loop, and that triggered dialogue where you basically tell Mira that was the person you were talking about earlier. Then on the next loop, talking to the fan gets an item to be delivered to Mira.
