Many appear to not like it, thinking only a WW2 setting works with the Core Gameplay Mechanics of the CoH Series.
I agree with the Op and highly disagree with a lot of others saying it would not work.
A Modern Cold War Combat Setting like in WARNO would work perfectly with the CoH Mechanics and should be CoH 4 for sure.
A Warhammer 40K Setting would also work just fine.
CoH 1 was the true successor to DoW 1.
So all they had to do was take the CoH game-play, add in some cool Melee Mechanics, fine tune the MP Stability and Boom! We would of had the best WH 40K game ever.
But again the fan base community cried "we don't want CoH in Space" for DoW 2.
So Relic decided to spend all their development time on a RPG SP Campaign for DoW 2, had no idea what the MP/Skirmish would look like and threw it together at the tail end of the development cycle. Whereas DoW 1 was build around the MP / Skirmish & not around a SP Campaign. This is why DoW 2 (though fun for some, simple & boring for others) is such a watered down MP / Skirmish Experience with only one production building.
DoW 2 should have been "Company of Heroes in Space."
Remember-----> CoH 1 was the true spiritual successor of DoW 1 game-play wise.
So History Lesson from the DoW Series and can we throw in C&C 4 in there too.

2024 American Army wouldnt even have to invade, they'd just annihilate Germany, Britain and Italy with like 5 nukes. Game over. Bad idea. Next.
I just don't think I'm as interested.
Then dont add nukes simple as that, a game is supposed to be fun, a bloody game is a bloody game lad
This is also why the V1 is an atrocious addition, especially with how it functions (sorry, not to detract)!
Chicken fillet roll also doesn't have a clue with that statement. Not to get into it or detract from the main topic, but Nukes are only useful against people who don't have them, which is why the US are against Iran having them for example. It's also why no one is wanting to get involved with the Russia/Ukraine situation.
Something called a guarantee of mutual destruction will put anyone off getting into fistycuffs, except for an absolute loon of course.
