No and it sounds like the last DLC pack will be real money only soon too.

No, the new DLC battlegroups will only be purchasable through the Steam store as a bundle. In regard to merits, Relic has said the following in their End of Year Battlegroup Update blogpost[community.companyofheroes.com]:

Q: Will the Stealth & Stronghold or new Heavy Tank Battlegroups ever be made available for Merit or War Bonds?
A: Our plan is to offer these and future Battlegroups through the Steam Store so that players have more robust support options with their purchases. Additionally, this change will allow us to continue delivering new and exciting content throughout 2025 and beyond.

Q: Will you have anything new for me to spend my Merit or War Bonds on in the future?
A: Yes! We are currently working on plans for additional items to be made available in the in-game store. We still need to finalize those plans before we’re ready to share more, but we hope to have more information for all of you in the coming months.
Additionally, the Australian Defense and Battlefield Espionage Battlegroups will become paid on March 20th, but they can be still be claimed for free until then. This policy won't affect the Advanced Infantry and Italian Coastal Battlegroups, though:

A: You can claim them for free via the in-game store until March 20th, 2025.

Q: If I already claimed the Australian Defense and Battlefield Espionage Battlegroups, will I lose access to them?
A: No! Once claimed these Battlegroups are tied to your account.

Q: Will this change affect the Advanced Infantry (US Forces) or Italian Coastal (Wehrmacht) Battlegroups?
A: No. The Advanced Infantry and Italian Coastal Battlegroups are available as part of the Hammer & Shield DLC pack available on the Steam Store.
Hope this solves any doubts!

I hate to admit it, but this makes a lot of sense from a business perspective.

I think most players would agree that the current in-store's offerings leave much to be desired. If they're anything like me, they're probably already sitting on a glut of Merit that could be used to purchase half, if not all the new battlegroups debuting this month. This in turn would cannibalize sales for the package that, I suspect, Relic desperately needs to fund additional releases.

It just sucks that we've arrived at this situation at all. I want Relic to succeed, but I just can't justify forking over another $25 after the bitter disappointment that was the "Scam & Shield" expansion. I don't blame others for disagreeing, nor think less of them for making their purchases this month. I just won't be counted among them.

Not true, regardless of how you feel about the game.
Please stop spreading that false narrative and be fair.

There were a lot of Issues and QoL Features missing upon Release.
But the game had 4 Factions and a SP Campaign along with two battle-groups being free since release.

Agreed.

A company still has to bring in some funds to continue support.
I will pay that price even for remix of battlegroups that already exist just to support thay game. RTS genre in cohstyle must survive

agree!!! I just hope everything goes well with coh soon. I'm still disappointed but I don't want to be. :retreat:
It is ok with paid DLC this time. I just hope that in the future you will still be able to spend Merit on meaningfull stuff (imo not cosmetics). Meritplayers are after all what keeps the online community alive.

Relic: "something the community ask for so long..."
Relic: "$26 please, only as a bundle"
I am ready to buy the DLC this morning. And i am glad to do it. If that $25 little dollars helps them bring more content i am all for it. I do not go through my life thinking that i am entitled to get stuff for free. And besides i have all ready got my moneys worth over 1000 hours ago.

Legit. That's what I miss most about CoH2... Nearly everything was available to buy with Supply, and you earned it regardless of what game mode you played (with exception to a 20,000 daily cap in Custom). You could even win store items themselves in rare drops. I really hope they bring that back.

A bit off topic. Will the DLC be released today? It is the 25th of February.
