Butterfly Bombs
While the mines themselves are a cool ability and all, the whole response is bugged.
Like, bring engineers over to sweep, the second it spots them and marks them as "disabled", everybody and their mother starts shooting at them. Including mortars, yours and teammates. This sets off the mines, suppressing your engis. Rinse and repeat, until they're dead or you retreat and hope you dont get wiped on mines on your way out.
Is there any word on this being addressed?

Yep, so stupid. In coh1, if you dropped them in an area that the enemy controlled, they would be shot down while in the air. In coh3, they are devastating when dropped on enemies which is opposite to how they're meant to be used.
Maybe they'll turn it into a "detonate on impact" like the M83's from CoH2?
They could at the very least make sure units aren't shooting at them while engis are clearing them.

Yes it should have been patched pretty quickly. No testing! Baffling.

Still enjoying the game though

Yeah. "Disabled" should mean disabled. Dropping them onto enemy forces, which didn't even bother to bring a sweeper should still do something, but when one is present they should neither blow up, nor be auto-targeted.

It's really strange, because standard mines don't get auto-targeted and yet these do. I reckon it has to be a bug, there's no way it's intentional.

You shouldn't be sacrificing a squad of engineers just to clear it, put it that way, because that's what happens. The one model with the sweeper starts to disarm it (when you tell them to) and the rest of the squad opens fire on the mines, resulting in a dead squad pretty quickly. It only gets worse when there are other units around as others have said.
If the drop is over units the mines should be shot down on drop.
The mines should be defensive and should only drop in places you have sight.
All I'm asking is to be able to diffuse them without losing a squad, if not more.
its very oppressive yes you can use mine sweepers but its still oppressive

By my own guess, it took codes from paratroopers, but instead of soldiers, the mines are dropped with much of mines characteristics.

Yea, I think your right. It's likely an easy enough fix, but the lack of a hotfix makes me wonder if it is.

Don't expect coding to be easy. Many times, the fixes are bandages on 3rd degree burn like TF2 stickybombs having obnoxiously long timer the stars fade away before it blows up conventionally without edits to the code itself or having 5 shotguns of the same types for 4 class because of a new addition at the time. They build up into spaghetti.

Yea, I did coding in college about 10 years ago and I can imagine it's quite a nightmare.

Fingers crossed they fix it sooner rather than later though, it's pretty ridiculous as it stands.
I see this was not addressed in the hotfix. It is absolutely oppressive and game changing. It needs to be fixed. Like, asap.

The only thing that needs to be fixed atm is the useless trash King Tiger its too weak, too slow and the fuel deduction is so DUMB for a unit that is barely better than a regular tiger please buff already relic
