What year was the game made in? 2000? Seems so. The menu of the Beta was better.
2. The sound is still underwhelming at times.
3. The BG system and their abilities. The Commanders from CoH2 (apart from the price-
policy) were just better, more versitile and had simply better abilities. Some of the CoH3
BG abilieties are worthless. I want to see more specialiced infantry call-ins, especially
some with 0 xp points. It is also nuts to only be able to call in armor in combination with
infantry. i don't want to call in Stug III D with Stoßtruppen for 600 MP. I only want the
Stug III D.
Wehrmacht/Sowjets had 22 commanders with 110 abilities, sometimes in varying
combinations.
4. Content. Yeah, there were 4 factions at release, yet the game is now nearly 2 years old
and we still haven't got any new factions. An Italian faction was a big wish from the
community since the Beta, but nothing happened. Only 4 BG per faction? Isn't much
either after 2 years. Yes they teased another one, yet it is still to few. There should be
atleast double the ammount of BGs. 6 per factions would be desirable. Within the same
timespan CoH2 released two DLCs with 2 factions and a campaign. CoH3 needs a new
faction within the next year or they get topped by CoH2. The British Forces DLC
released 2 years and 3 months after the main game totaling it up to 5 factions.
Considering CoH3 should have been the next big thing, it is disappointing that it never
managed to do that.
To sum it up, CoH3 isn't bad, it is quit decent, but it failed to be good and to draw in many players. There are currently more players playing both previous titles, than CoH3. Actually for the most time more players play CoH2 than CoH3, despite CoH2 being the more "disliked" installation of the series. As of writng this comment there were 1700 more players active in CoH2 than in CoH3. The alltime-peak is even more different: CoH2 had a peak of 161.000 players, CoH3 just 30.000.
CoH3 was developed "with" the community, but as it seems the game isn't really the thing the community wanted. I still have the impression the reason CoH3 underpreformes so hard, was, that it tried so hard to be not like CoH2, that it failed to be a good game. In so many aspects it tries to imitate CoH1, yet it feels out of time. CoH3 feels old and clunky, despite being a new game.
And now it seems, that the devs shifted their attention to other projects, atleast if I can trust the comments stating that. Maybe we get surprised with some big content updates, but as of now, CoH3 is just a disapointment. Yes it does some thing right. The gameplay itself has it great moments, the graphic is also good, yet there are some many aspects worth of critique, that I don't believe they get all adressed.
Like a new menu. Seriously, what is this grey nonsense? CoH1 did it better nearly 20 years ago and so did it CoH2.
