Best infantry unit in game?
I say U.S. commandos. Being able to switch between Bazookas and LMG's is a gamechanger. Sorry Guastacrappi.

US commando also for the weapon switch bazooka/lmg and the insane buffs you can get once your company get experienced

Double bar fully upgraded rifles are absolutely nuts, when using pour it on they seem to obliterate everything.

I suppose if the rifles stood still...

I believe the bars fire whole moving and add suppression, the rifle nades seem to miss pretty badly against moving targets, if the rifles got up close it would be ugly.

i think Gurkha infantry has the best DPS in the game with the Bren LMG upgrade.... it can kill 2 SSJ Commando's by it self...... did a test in a game 3 times....

I think all the infantry are in a really good place right now, I'd say the tankiness of jaegers absolutely needs a look at, as they feel incredibly hard to kill models on, tanking some ridiculous punishment at times.

Outside that, Wher basic Pioneers are absolutely terrible, I guess they are kind of meant to be but I really wish they had got a lot better with veterancy.

It's pretty hard to beat fully upgraded riflemen with an infantry support building for cost effectiveness combined with power. That makes them best, because this is a game of attrition, and they win that game.

Not cheap to get there, mind you, but Riflemen are pretty damn good as long as you don't try to beat proper rifle units at max range. (Garand is short-medium range weapon - it has more than twice the rate of fire at short range compared to long, and its long range accuracy sucks. Don't try long range duels exceot against SMG troops.).

It is true that Jaegers counter riflemen, but that doesn't make them the best; they are in turn countered by Tommies - their call to fame is beating riflemen, not being actually best. I believe the mortar, bought from the basic infantry building, is supposed to counter the jaegers; they are best trading at range with riflemen from cover, and that leaves them vulnerable to mortars.

PG's are Wehr's counter to tommies. But PG's are countered by riflemen (with BAR's). There is no 'best' in this circle stab. You have outlier special units - gurkhas, commandos, guastatori, etc. - they're all quite good and not quite so clearly counters to/countered by units. Guastatori are pretty good; their booby traps are vicious. Bersagliari are ... kidna weak, but with increased squad size and a Breda, they're suddenly quite good.

Fallschirmjaegers and sturmtruppen are both really good at what they do, but for me they are let down by their squad size; it makes them too easy to wipe.

Rifles are good after massive upgrades that mean you have no manpower or fuel for other things. rifles suck against vehicles and if you see a rifle with bars it means you dont have to worry about a sherman.

The unit that can fight toe to toe vs both infantry and vehicles
And has utility like grenades
And has utility like smoke
And can kill stuff in smoke without using grenades
And can break cover that other infantry is using

Imagine not thinking tommies are hands down the best inf in the game.

There literally is no competition about cost, spammability and flexibility of that unit.
