There's obviously going to be a handful that vary from this, but traditionally, I play fighting games and sports games on a console, and RTS and RPG on a PC. FPS is either/or, and adventure games are either/or (though console is slightly better there IMO).
RTS on a console would be like a fighting game on PC... I'm sure it's technically do-able, and with the right peripherals, probably works really well, but it would by no means be my ideal situation to only ever play RTS on a console.
The problem is we feel Relic / Sega do this only for money and not for the love of the game.
Halo Wars 2 was and in a way still is very popular even though the Woke Devs behind it technically abandoned the game & refuse to support it.
One of the biggest issues though with HW 2 is "Big Maps."
They really do not play well and it's hard to move your units across on the big maps.
So when you see CoH 3 with all these small maps the first thing that came to my mind was---> great they planned and designed the game from the start with the Console in Mind. Not saying this is the reason for small maps, but the Short games-Fast paced-Arcady Experience on small maps immediately brought Halo Wars 2 to mind.
If they did not slap the Company of Heroes name on this game and released it on Console First it probably would be very popular.
Halo Wars 2 is fun in a more simplified fast paced kind of way but the CoH Series is suppose to be more in depth and tactical. So what compromises have to be made for CoH to be played on a console?
To each their own, and I don't care how rocky CoH 2's start was, both CoH 1 and 2 felt like an RTS designed for the PC whereas CoH 3 feels like the Devs were trying to implement a design to be enjoyable on both platforms (meaning well of course) but CoH 3 just plays horribly atm for many of the fan-base.
Console is the whole reason why it flopper on PC getting it to work and making it more mobile game like was not the direction it should of went. I pointed out this was going to be a console port way before they ever annouced it in BETA. Cause it's pretty clear with the design of the game that this was something they were going to do. No one believed me.
Pretty freaking obvious to anyone paying attention and it's the reason why it sucks. They dumbed it down for console boys.
The relic team is gone that team actually worked on the new Age of Empire game and everyone else left. They killed relic a long ass time ago after the DOW3 flop which was forced on them to conform to corporate idiocy. They keep trying to expand the series DOW3 for instance was trying hard to be a MOBA cause that was the fad at that time.
COH3 is trying to be inclusive of Console and Mobile gaming. This will end up on mobile phones watch. They already have COH on mobile this will be a folow up to that.
Guarantee you, it's one of two things.. An "alternate lifestyle" employee or a female.
Or both.
The problem with trying to make everyone happy, is that you're only going to make the minority happy..
And here we are, with a game that's sub par, ignores historic realities and claims to reflect WW2, in a way that never happened.
Then we all wonder why kids today don't know ♥♥♥♥.
Viola! The icing on the cake!
The console versions are online only.
I mean if things couldn't get any worse lol, what an absolute mess.
Exactly, dumbing down a game is the right word to describe it. Than so many people are trying to peddle the poor reception of the game by saying coh2 was like that at release. But coh 2 didnt have these design core flaws. The small and medium vehicules move like toys . There is no sound of engines or any variations in engine sound . Game is pretty much very poor on everything . Finaly, they screwed the game for console boys as you said .
Every time when i get on home screen in coh 3 , i cant belive how poor it looks. Coh 3 is definitely a very simplified game which dosent offer any appreciable experience for aaa price.
Can you give some examples that are not quality of life changes between CoH2 and CoH3?
