is there a way to fix it ? i was pretty far ... past El Alamein mission
The only real fix I can think of would be getting the previous version of the game. Try looking under the "betas" tab in Steam (right click on the game in your library -> Betas). Legally sharing the files with a friend who is yet to update is the good way, too. Just drop his game "over" yours in SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common in this case.
Essence Editor and CheatEngine would be the next step. The easiest way is to edit the exact save file (it should have a prefix for the version), I guess.
But before any of those, you need to back-up stored files. Try to locate game files in AppData or documents/my_games depending on your OS. Search for "Company of Heroes 3", "Relic Entertainment" and so on. It's likely to be in ../AppData/Local/Sega. Look for 'Save", "Savegames" folder here and copy the whole thing. Also check whether it's empty or not, because the game could already kill your saves. AND DON'T MAKE ANY NEW SAVES until you've the back-up of old ones!
did you not have any begin-mission autosaves? My understanding is that patches tend to invalidate mid-mission saves but begin-mission saves should be fine.
