What is the point of the M3 half track?
I WISH it was like the wher one that actually pins?
Like we have to micro like crazy to keep it alive, is it supposed to be a stopping point?
Just skip it and go Ghound.

Then I play Wher that just brings it out and it pins inf, you know like I want mine to?
Just a spit in the face the American players.

Reinforcements & upgrades. Mobile AT gun, medstation (y'know, for all your infantry-blobbing needs) and supposedly pin-machine & AA gun (still underwhelming AFAIR).

But you cant reinforce once the gun is out.

It is meant to be upgraded into a specialized role. That loiter ruining your day or you want some early anti-infantry support? M16 Quad 4 is your answer. Want to support your infantry with front line heals? Upgrade to medical truck. Want to keep early light armor at bay or drop smoke/barrage than upgrade to AT gun variant. You can also go Mechanized Support Center and save on the costly upgrade muni costs at the cost of a little more MP/Fuel. I almost always have the M16 and medical truck at some point.

You make it sound so easy, the thing has to be micro'ed to death

Yes but early on you don't really have too much of an army so it should be manageable. Always make sure to use group bindings for your more important units. Later on it gets dangerous to keep the quad 4 too close to the front and with a lot going on I often keep it as more of a AA than infantry support in larger team battles. The healing truck requires little micro as you keep it off the front most of the time only to bring it up when safe to do so to re-man support equipment. I haven't used the anti-tank variant since it got buffed in the latest update so i can't say much on it other than I normally prefer other anti-tank options.

Most of my experience is in team play mind you and 1v1 can be very different.
