You make it sound so easy, the thing has to be micro'ed to death
Yes but early on you don't really have too much of an army so it should be manageable. Always make sure to use group bindings for your more important units. Later on it gets dangerous to keep the quad 4 too close to the front and with a lot going on I often keep it as more of a AA than infantry support in larger team battles. The healing truck requires little micro as you keep it off the front most of the time only to bring it up when safe to do so to re-man support equipment. I haven't used the anti-tank variant since it got buffed in the latest update so i can't say much on it other than I normally prefer other anti-tank options.
Most of my experience is in team play mind you and 1v1 can be very different.
