Ending of Italy Campaign is absolutely terrible!. Spoilers
Wow. I've defended this game... But the ending to the Italy map campaign is shockingly bad! It sets up as an attack on Rome. Rome is on the map! It is not clear that the final mission is, indeed, the final mission! By design of the game, your weak companies that you use at Anzio are the closest. The irony is that even with these two companies that barely had upgrades, I was able to win relatively easily. The entire campaign is too easy. There is none of the challenge that CoH 1 and 2 had.

Then, when you do the "Winter Line" mission and are getting set up for attacking through to Rome. Boom. Game over. Terrible cut scene!

Just a massive failure from Relic. I was enjoying the campaign and the ending just killed it.

lmao, the whole game is alpha; obviously they got minimal budget and a ton of relic staff retired.

Its too bad. Games just suck these days, COH3 will need another year or two of development to get acceptable.

Unfortunately , Monte Cassino was the final major battle . There is no battle for Rome btw .

Yes, but by that logic - the Abbey should have been levelled and the battle taken place in the town. Though I know what you're saying.

What the game should have done was hype up to the last battle. I really had no idea and just thought it was another battle. The funny thing is, I'm far from a layman when it comes to military history, and even I wasn't 100% if Rome was taken through force or not. Your average gamer probably isn't well versed in the war there.

its possible to capture rome by paradropping on it. However, capturing rome doesn't have any impact on the mission because you still need to break the winter line. However it at least allows you to capture every single town on the map, if you so feel like

I wonder if it's how long it takes you to play out the campaign. You're given a number of days to capture Monte Casino, otherwise the bombing happens.
But you have to have completed a number of thing, like the areas next to The Adriatic, before you can attack Monte. I don't know how long you're given, but if things get delayed for a while, Rome might be the last battle.
Also, there's the difficulty level to consider. The harder it is, the more places you end up fighting in.
I've played the campaign more than once on Easy level, and the first time I played it took me about four months of game time. And Ortona, on the Adriatic wasn't captured until late 1943.
But I agree, the campaign ending before you get to Rome seems odd, "Considering that IS our ultimate goal"...

Could you please advise about the history of the Battle of Rome. Seem to be unable to find same in what few historical records that are available to me. Thanks...

I agree that the Italy campaign ends with a very flat and sudden stop to the action, I wasn't very happy with it either, especially since the credits rolled but I never even got a "Yay you completed the campaign!" type achievement.

It just ended without warning, credits rolled, then I got kicked to the main menu. Hopefully in December Relic makes the experience better for new players.

I personally don't see a reason to replay the campaign as of now.

there wasn't a battle for Rome. It was taken without any fighting
