British Mainline Infantry, why?
Who in their right mind decided that a 5 man team of Rifleman should have one of the soldiers replaced with an Officer wielding a pistol.... Why do four riflemen need and officer to manage them? It just looks so silly and immersion breaking seeing a few rifle squads and a dozen officers.

They should have made the 5th soldier a radio operator skin or a sergeant or something... not an officer, they must think the British Army had 300,000 officers to help a few soldiers manage <_< The fact the officer has a pistol too is the icing on the cake, considering they seem about as effective as a wet tissue in combat.

Rant over, dunno if anyone will even agree with me on this either.

Yes you are not the only one who wonderd about this. Guess he looks cool but i'd make so much more sense if he was a leutanant or something. Cheers!

Even a Lieutenant wouldn't make sense though, not for a squad of four riflemen anyway. In the COH and COH 2 Officers were a separate squad/entity which was more immersive and made sense to see only one or two officers present on the battlefield.

Imagine complaining about strongest, most cost efficient infantry in the whole game.

They are a jack of all trades, master of none. Sure they are cheap for what you can get out of them, but other specialised units will outperform them both on allies side and axis.

Also I agree with OP.

They seem to liken the Brits as weedy nerds whilst the Americans are the action heroes though. Typical American Hollywood effect.

Having one of the five soldiers in a single rifleman squad as an officer with a pistol is silly, doesn't matter whether the unit is "Cheap and most cost effective" in the game, I'm talking about how outright daft it looks and silly it is to have officers leading four other guys

Yeah the officer is silly, but Tanks and soldiers with hit points aren't.

Its a graphical flourish.

The officer will only carry his pistol until you upgrade the squad, or at least I'm not aware of any of the upgrades being exception to that.

And this is coming from a Canadian game studio.
