Blobs inc, fun gone...
Hey,
do you guys notice more and more people just playing with blobs instead of commanding single units? In the first week, people didnt do that alot. Now they do!

Is it just, that people start the same lame bs from coh2 in coh3 or it because im around rank 200 now...? Higher ranks = more blobs?

(talking about 3v3 and 4v4)

it makes the game even more repetitive than it already is. Using cover is obsolete. Also, building different kind of units seem to be obsolete to those people. A lot of them also never use pioneers to build something. So it's the same thing, over and over again. There is no variety in gameplay, if a lot of people just blob. You face them the same way, nearly every time.

it's a meta dude, and once someone sees it work on them hey copy, i did the pathfinder blob day one first mins of game launch and now it's everywhere lol, best units for range and killing rate on any units apart from armour lol. but yes meta will be in all games.

Thats the point, i stoped playing coh2 because of this - its just not fun.
not a real strategy game anymore i guess...
Feels more like Age of Empires unit spam!!!

It's almost like warfare is more effective when concentrating a larger force instead of sending one squad at a time into meat grinder. Who woulda thought.

I've seen people do this and they played terribly, just giving up lots of edge of map fuels to the enemy, leaving killed enemy AT guns for them to just come and retake...

i get its easy to control but it has such a small map presence and was pretty annoying to see/ be allied with.

They should add a global bonus for troops using multiple types of units combined, for example, the greater the diversity of troops, the greater the bonus received. I think that would be very interesting for the game.
I refuse to play with blobs, but I pay a heavy price for it.

I think that is the problem with many games. Once something becomes Meta you will only face the exact same strat from thereon out. I mean dont they get bored from spamming pathfinders every single game?

All to grind that new leaderboard no one really gives a crap about.

but you are right, it will be in all games. One way to play will always be optimal compared to the others.
Big allied blobs rule the game now. No early game counter.

Combined arms is what is supposed to win, kinda like in real life.

2 pioneers and an MG is supposed to beat a blob of 4 riflemen.

Luftwaffe + Grenade launchers, and watch them insult you and cry.

I play Afrika Corp. The earliest partial counter is a stug. By the time I can make it there's about 100- 200 left on the clock.

In single player campaign mission you are force to blob with Sappers. I guess it's balance on SP blobbing. This could be a reason UK Sappers have high damage in close combat but Guard and Special Forces unit still terrible unit.

MG doing terrible in their job suppressing a blob due to their animation like Breaching. I really thought it's LOS mechanic but seeing a marathon AI can bypass MG is just ridiculous.

MGs, grenades, wirblewind, prop war, strafing run etc etc. Come on the counters to blobbing have been there since CoH1. Your fault if you dont use them

I've seen some... but they usually get worked: suppressed and a nade/mortar eats them up :) I actually encourage some blobbing; when I see it I know what to do. It's when an opponent comes with 2 units or 3 that help each other out... now that is scary :)

Bro I play the game since coh1, and I'm on rank 250 (now) in coh3...
I know how the game works...

But playing a game where features getting obsolete because of this "tactics" ruin the core idea of the game. And at this point, the game is not a real strategy game anymore. With blobs, you don't even have to use cover...

It's basically the same as Age of Empires 4 unit spamming...
What's to make coh different to command and conquer or age of empires, when you can just easily blob the game?

The most sad thing... the best way to counter a blob, is to create a blob your self. That has nothing to do with strategies or tactics.
