Which Campaign Did You Start First?
Did a quick search and can’t find any suggestions, but which of the two campaigns would you suggest playing first?

For someone who played CoH1 A LOT, bought CoH2 but for some reason couldn’t get into it as much, and hasn’t touched a CoH game for more than a decade, which one would you suggest.

Africa seems to me to be the obvious choice since it seems a more linear affair, and more like the classic CoH experience..then follow it up with Italy which adds a Grand Strategy layer on top. I did start Italy initially and played for a couple hours but I felt they were giving away too much too soon, like showing all the cards too quickly. Does Africa teach you the basics more and have a more gradual buildup or is it more of a Hollywood-type setup like Saving Private Ryan, and you get all the forces right off the bat? I prefer to start with a slow burn and work up to more dynamic scenes.

Yes the Africa campaign is your classic mission to mission structure and gives you an intro to the DAK units. The Italy campaign is a mixed bag. Personally I find a lot of the mechanics padded out in order to make it feels like a gigantic conflict but end up being unnecessarily tedious.

None of the campaign since CoH1 has the Saving Private Ryan vibe anymore. The devs are trying everything in their power to downplay the true brutality and horror of an all out war cuz kids these days can't handle that sh*t.

Thanks. I think I will start Africa campaign first. I like more streamlined gameplay in the beginning.
Started Africa campaign first to stay in chronological order. :D Missions were really fun and diverse.

Backstory was not really intriguing, unfortunately. Was hoping to get some insight on the german side, like in CoH1...

Africa Campaign is great, but beware the story about rommel. It is absolute garbage. Can´t understand why they did this like this.

Or you know they try different things since that "vibe" has been done to death across all forms of entertainment.
