How well does the AI play?

Even the standard AI is good. The game isn't better than previous versions though. Why do I end up with over 30 command points and can't spend them for example? It's boring and takes too long to produce any good units. They had a good thing before, all they really had to do was update the graphics, which is arguable in this version, create new campaigns and add maps. Why not a pacific theater? If you wanted to do something different then naval landings and guns. The only thing that is going to save this game is mods. It seems like the dev team had no veteran players among them. Not one.

Started out terrible but I think they patched it and last game I played seemed much tougher.

I don't understand all these people saying the AI in 3 is easy?!!! I mostly played against a mix of Easy and standards in CoH2 and it was enough of a challenge for me and friends. We played against the easiest difficulty on CoH3 and it was impossible. It was like a cheating super expert AI. We couldn't hold anything and got pushed back to base. They pump out so much it's overwhelming.

Are you rushing munition and fuel caps? On standard you can deny the AI from these making it pretty easy. I think on the higher difficulties the AI gets a boost in resources so they are not cap dependent but the AI now tries it's best to deny you caps and cripple you.

COH Veteran here, honestly the AI in COH 3 even on maximum difficult is no challenge at all, it is quite disappointing, i still think the original COH had the best AI to date, coh 2 was situational but coh 3 is just plain dumb for the time being , though i would suggest COH 2 on release had pretty awful AI as well but they improved it over time , so if its a challenge your waiting for before purchasing then give it a few patches and see if they up the anty with the AI. That being said though overall the game is quite nice, plenty on offer unit wise, and the single player campaign AI is not to bad making good use of cover and environmental structures, i think the AI is different in skirmish. As others have pointed out though it also depends on how good u are at the series, if your new u may find it a bit of a challenge while u learn the ropes but once u got ur builds down it soon becomes a breeze.

Winning vs. AI requires a specific way of playing. Even in CoH2 we'd have PvP players clicking on the wrong automatch button every once in a while and they'd struggle hard, because they were not accustomed to how to fight AIs. But once you learn this, it is significantly easier.

I think that's the key. The AI is fine for your average comp stomper, but the veterans/pros just know how to exploit it to the point were it's way to easy.

Your welcome, as i said in my original comment, its my experience with the COH games and COH team that eventually the iron out the AI and give it a bit of a bump. For now though plenty to enjoy in the cool dynamic campaign and some very fun matches to be had with the community. Hope you enjoy your experience bud all the best

lets put it this way i played against fealess ai and after the game ended i got a text on my phone saying "gg ez"

Well, damaged AI tanks drive right past repair bunks going all the way back to their base for repairs. Then you have AI MG's crews non-stop shooting at empty ground with no enemies around. One of my favorites is how the AI drops expensive game changing weapons EVERYWHERE: bazookas, BAR's, Brit Anti Tank rifles, flamethrowers, to name a few.
