Sadly this is making the strongest point of the USA, their close air support useless.
Yes you are right. But Luftwaffe has some very good ground options too. Especailly their defense structures. I mean airborne is right now the best way to play the USA too. Because of the drop in anti tank guns and the infanntery.
But in terms of strafe runs i am not using them too while i play Luftwaffe. It is a waste of ammo.
With that you can get the P-47 to do rocket strikes instead of strafing runs.
And you get carpet bombing. Plus all of the useful drops.
Special Ops Battlegroup isn't as good. The commando squad, the Whizbang, and the Re-Supply Operation are the only things that I'd be interested in, out of the ten techs in the tree.
I never even got to try the strafe before I stopped playing the US.
It says dual strafing runs over the target area. It sounded good.
Guess not.
Imagine 10-20 individual players microing each unit, you launch a mortar at a blob? They move aside.
In CoH1 and CoH2 they do not proactively evade any form of indirect fire.
In this game they have Ultra Instinct.
Mortar are useless in Coop vs AI because their range is equal to that of a SMG/Rifle team. They need a much wider range but it looks like the devs intentionally nerfs all forms of indirect automation.
Wiped out three squads in the first pass. And the P-47 does two passes. It's overkill.
It was devastating. Much more punishing than the CoH I strafe.
It's just a timing thing. Because the target area is fat enough, and it's fairly long.
I saw three squads leaving their bass and coming over a hill. Any player who blobs like that, will regret it.
Just brutal.
Seeing all those green XP numbers from their deaths.

I don't think that I'd want to choose the Special Operations Battlegroup over the Airborne, though, just for the Strafe.
The Whizbang is fantastic, too, but its range is fairly short. I thought it would be much further.
