But I understand if others disagree here.
The Brits in the game have a Black Prince.
Anyway there were several Tiger tanks in Tunesia. The Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 504, for example had some.
The more you "see" the differences between reality vs no accuracy, the harder it destroys the immersion thus entertainment.
So doing it unrealistic will catch the unknown, they cannot compare anyway -> Win-Lose
Doing it realistic catch both unknown, they dont care but also those who care/see differences -> Win-Win
So doing it as realistic as possible is the better option, will get more income, attention etc. At least if you do no science fiction genre and CoH obviously represent a "in reality happened war".
Fair point. For me immersion breakers are rather that there is no recoil for tanks and no unit crushing than historically inaccurate units.
The Stug, on the otherhand, did not work in the desert (large ventilation filters + sand = kaput). Seems like a missed opportunity to replace it with something similar that can fit the role.
But thats science fiction then, what about clown tanks? Im sure any faction did one in WW2, maybe add for "more unique units as possible"?
I vote for keep it realism and add uniqueness and quality by features/gameplay development. You can make a tank feel like a 3D block and boring or add huge details, features, options etc. and it feels like a tank simulation. Thats quality without spammy add 100 models but all worse and also take out realism aspects.
Shhhhhhhh! Lelic did very careful research did you not see the developer say so?
"We did a very careful research on units and factions."
-Relic Dev Team.
The developers announced (numerous times) that the Deutschland Afrika Corps in the game are 'based' on the Desert Afrika Corps. Think of the Oberkommando West faction in CoH 2.
Tiger tanks WERE used in Africa by German forces. In fact, one of the last operational Tiger tanks that still exists today (Tiger 131) was captured during this conflict. Relic, or Lelic as you so humorously like to say, have visited and inspected the real physical vehicle, made recordings of it's sounds and taken images of the tank.
(Starship Troopers voice) Would you like to know more?

Now the question has been answered and with greater context, and you get to enjoy learning about some big cats.
Hm, have my doubts about such statements, if I compare e.g. the ingame Famo recovery vehicle with the real Famo.
There were only up to 11 Tiger tanks operational in the 501st in Africa at any given time, though, and at the beginning, there were literally 3. (Most were sent to 502nd.)
It should be a doctrine unit for them like it is for the Wehr, it's odd they have it standard.
