Do you start over with major updates

I bought this game back during the Christmas sale and i am getting around to playing it (got to love steam sales). I was wondering with every major content update, do you have to start over or is like some other games where you can keep playing with the new major updates.

I keep playing the same. But they are redoing a bunch of the game and I do not think the saves will be compatible once it comes out. Will have to start new.

I always start over. The impact of major updates needs to be examined at all stages, not just the end.

i generally don't like starting over but if my character is separate from the world it softens the blow a little bit for me.
