Devs have said that it wasn't based on that episode. Also that farm animals will be in a future update, no nasties.
We get some glimpses of civilian mobile suits in Gundam, especially in the Universal Century era. Older Macross concept art often had civilian destroids for heavy industry. Fang of the Sun: Dougram also had civilian mecha. Appleseed and Intron Depot gave us open-top, 4 meter-tall, powered-armor for a jaunt to the beach.
On a less Japanese note, The Electric State graphic novel and other art by Simon Stalenhag is replete with scenes of large autonomous robots that were (or still are) performing tasks that once were handled by humans with large vehicles and heavy machinery.
And that is just the few I can recall off the top of my head!

They can say it all they want but the episode dropped in March 2019. It's been five years. Everyone is going to draw the conclusion that the devs watched the episode and realized nobody had made a mech farming game.
The art style is nearly identical.
First thought that came to mind when I saw this on the store. The episode is called "Suits" and when I first saw it years ago I was like "I would totally play that if it were a game."
A little disappointing they went with a peaceful/casual implementation. I'd want to blast bugs away in those mech suits.
I'm told early iterations of the game turned out surprisingly similar to "Suits", but the decision was made to lean into more peaceful gameplay.
