Dedicated server
Will there be dedicated server?
Would love not to force other players to wait on a host to play.

Howdy y'all!

Just popping in to say that we hear you loud and clear on this matter! However, we have no current plans for dedicated servers. It's a big ol' task to tackle with our current multiplayer setup, and right now, we're putting all of our efforts on squaring away any bugs and rustling up some new features instead.

Feel free to join our Discord server where we have a channel dedicated for players looking for others to play with!

Thank you for your understanding!

Dedicated servers will be dead in a few years anyway.

Hi all, I see that this topic has gotten a bit of traction. Fun to see that this is a feature many of you are passionate about. We'll take this feedback to heart and look into what we can do with future updates.

I want to be clear on that this would be a big undertaking to implement so it is not something we are able to do in the short-term but we'll look into if there are anything we can do long term.
Would love dedicated servers and mods!
+1 Dedicated servers, or shared progressions of some sort so people can come together when they are on but still play when others aren't Have a look at Generation Zero for how they accomplished this.

Going to try the demo out just to see what it's like, but I probably won't purchase until there are dedicated servers. I host them myself for me and friends and having to rely on one person to host the same save up is pretty bad. There are ways around this like dumping the save file in a shared google drive/onedrive/etc, but a dedicated server usually does that plus increase performance of the game, reduces desync (as it's not relying on the host's PC who is having to generate graphics), etc. 100% necessary for any co-op game over 2 players.
+1 on dedicated servers

Instead of dedicated servers, you may be able to implement some sort of shared save? like grounded does.

It really depends on how you see folks playing this though. From what I've played so far, losing progression because someone else did it without must feel really really bad. On the other hand, it could be cool to be able to make changes to the base for other to arrive and see.

That second part is what made me love minecraft and still had no other game surpass it (even if I'm really tired of it). I just want a world that I know will live on for years which we can iterate on from time to time.

Just my opinion, I thought it might be helpful :)

Dedicated Servers as a Option are great. Palworld did it like that just now allowing Playerhosted OR serverhosted options.

i got a lot of friends in all timezones from Sydney to california and anything inbetween. on our Palworld server there is a constant comming and going as people go to bed or come home from work. not having a Server option, from my experience with my lads, usually ends with a weekend of coop, followed by a week of solo play before we drop the game one by one. thats how it happend with other games like satisfactory in our Circle.

thats true for me too, we are a couple of people that hop on hop off, games that doesnt support own server doesnt get played, its as easy as that.

but its odd that you mentioned Satisfactory that DO have a dedicated server :)

Agreed. I do like hosting my own dedicated servers for my friend group where players can come and go as they want. The Basic implementation from Satisfactory for dedicated server was pretty easy to setup. something similar in this game to upload your worlds right from the game menu would be nice.
Def Need Dedicated Servers
I have 3 sons who like to play games & they enjoy playing games with me. I also have other family members who also enjoy playing games. Sometimes they're 16 of us playing on a game together. But I don't buy my kids games & myself if it doesn't have a dedicated server option.

We don't all play at the same time, so it's nice to have something running so we can log on & play for a bit whenever we like. I host locally on a dedicated system for multiple games like Farming sim 22, Valheim, Minecraft & Astronomer.

They've seen this game & their mum bought it 2 of them. But there's no dedicated server hosting option with steam CMD I can run on my server system. So, even if it looks fun single player, I won't be buying unless it has a full dedicated steam cmd. So, for me there's no intentions of buying it until them.
