We'll be implementing multi-controller co-op next year which will enable players to still use the same screen but use multiple controllers without the need to pass.
That said, we DO choose to pass a controller usually, since we're using old PS3 controllers and the sticks are a bit glitchy at times, even with a deadzone, so multiple controllers means more glitches and so more frequently we end up moving to the wrong tile etc.
The 'worse' controller support vs FTK has meant we parked FTK II since the release-day purchase, sadly. It has improved so we've just tried it again, but there are still numerous bugs with controller input. I could report them but suspect they are already well-known.
1. launch an unfinished game
2. receive bad reviews
3. complain that people don't buy an unfinished game and abandon the project
1. List points that serve no purpose other than to satisfy self.
2. Review something badly because of a singular thing that didn't favour self.
3. Make assumptions before actually seeing results that are still in process.
The developer is aware of the co-op issue, as they have actively appeared in this very forum. They have stated that they're adding a better local co-op system later in 2024.
Fun fact: If they released the game with no co-op at all. Then they'd get even more complaints by people who just complain about trivial things.
Oh hey look everyone! He did the thing! HE DID THE THING! LETS ALL POINT AT HIM AND REMIND HIM THAT HE DID THE THING!!!
I always excitedly read the patch notes but not a lot of controller love has come through yet.
Our addition of multi-controller support was pencilled in for Q4 of this year, that hasn't changed.
We're in a great place for concurrent players, just had our largest sale to date, and we're working on smaller content updates and optimization in the meantime with our next large content update planned for 2025.
We're a smaller studio of less than 20 people with a free DLC launched just over one month ago that included an all-new mode, new classes, new weapons, new gear, new cosmetics, etc.
Far from abandoned, we plan to support For the King II for quite some time, but we aren't a live service triple-A game, so our content cycle is going to be slower.
Squeaky wheel gets the grease... no surprise, just disappointing. Appreciate the update, even if it took baseless accusations to trigger it.
