Do I have time to finish chapter 1?
I'm on chapter 1, turn 40, and I have a quest to visit Boney's dungeon (?) Level 6. Currently 3 of my characters are level 6, and one is nearly there. I have one chaos, and a quest to remove the chaos. I'm playing on the easiest difficulty. I have no hearts left (I lost loads near the beginning, but only one recently). I'm pretty happy with my equipment, and have lots of spare gold for herbs - although only have 3 healing herbs.

Do I have time to finish the game? I think there is it's own limit of 50 turns? If so, that would imply I shouldn't worry about the chaos?

Please advise me, because I'd prefer to attempt to finish and die, than just run out of time.

I think you have as much time as you want outside of chaos.

Completing each map in under 50 turns is just for the challenge credit. It's not required.

Wow thanks to you both. I'm not too bothered about the challenge credit, because I'll replay again anyway. I just want to give myself the best chance of completing the chapter. I heard the final boss could be a challenge if I am only level 6.

Thanks again.

You want to be at least 7 for the boss.

The under 50 turns is only for the challenge, I've run map 2 or 3 ans was on turn 112 and the game seemed to just gave up on applying chaos.

The actual fail states tend to be complete party wipe, running out of hearts or hitting maximum chaos. Since in this game chaos seems to be used fairly frequently as essentially "map health" but not always(?)

Another kinda misleading thing, is the way the game talks about the challenges. The way it's worded it sounded (to me at least) like you had to complete all of them in a single playthrouh. However what it seems to mean is that they won't be awarded until the end/completion of a playthrough and you can complete them over the course of multiple playthroughs.

What happens if you pass the challenge?

Achievement? Lore item?

No, just a filled dot under the chapter title on the Campaign map.

Every title on the map, like "The Primordial Oak", has 3 small gray dots under it.
Those are empty challenge icons, indicating not done yet.
Finish each challenge, and it fills in its dot with its icon.

Eventually, you want to gaze over the Campaign map and see 15 little icons.
It looks prettier than 15 gray placeholders, and ceases to Taunt your dreams.

I wish I could tell you but I have no heccin clue, since the Lore Store only ever says "???"

Maybe something happened, maybe it didn't, I'm pretty sure something unlocked on those runs but I couldn't tell you what or why.

Which is probably one of my bigger complaints about this game atm.

Seems stupid to me that the devs don't toss the player a little something something for completing the challenges.
