Mimic destroys items
I mean literally wtf ? How cheap is it? In Baldurs Gate 3 for example you get your Items back if a mimic eats them and you kill it, but here not so much. It eats an item you bought with coins 2 rounds ago and then you kill it it drops random items but not the items it ate....WHY?

Yeah, well, it chews them up, they're not stolen but destroyed. Same when you get something destroyed by acid. What you'd get back is trash.
It's not this game's fault if BG3 is unrealistic in that regard. Or simply different. Gobbling up versus CHEWING up, I guess.

Most all of the equipment in this game is shallow and uninteresting. In BG3 you actually get interesting equipment with unique and interesting abilities and characteristics. It would suck a lot more in BG3 if enemies were permanently destroying your equipment.

Are there still acid slimes in FTK2? Basically killed runs in the first game I avoided them like the plague.

Yup. there sure are.

acid slimes are a bit easier to deal with since they apply acid to the ground instead of directly, so if you can move out of the zone you can avoid the acid!

Also, use good old panax before your stuff gets destroyed. Haven't had a chance to try that yet, but I guess it still works against acid?

Can also just use a purification scroll, or a purification book. They generally only need 1 roll to purify something.

Maybe for acid (haven't seen it yet personally), but mimic I'm pretty sure just instantly destroys your equipment.

Yes, of course I was only talking about acid. As I said myself, mimics destroy stuff instantly. Also, panax cures a condition on your chars, it wouldn't do anything about mimics or thieves.

Mimics destroying items is a garbage mechanic, it can be countered by identify scrolls or keeping the mimic shocked so that it cannot use that ability, problem is i've had runs where the mimic attacked first and directly used that ability so yeah garbage mechanic.

game throws equipment at you left right and center, and mimics are always optional.

What do the devs mean by adding this game mechanic? It's a frustrating mechanic that you can't protect against and which makes the game objectively worse.

They're not really an issue. They only rarely eat something, and it's rarely important. You should be keeping some backup stuff.

Well, item loss and destruction was already in the first game. I think it's been done alright in FTK 2.
My tips about Mimics :

• Shock them, don't be afraid to spend some concentration too, they'll then always fail their one roll item destruction attack.
• Do not open early (Lvl <2) suspicious chests, or use an Identification Scroll. Early mimics can be literally run ender if found inside a cave/dungeon, all it take is for your magic dmg dealer to lose their weapons.
• Keep backup weapons and have a good distribution of physic/magic DPS across the party, or get some armor penetration/shredding attacks. This apply to the whole game imo, not just mimics.

So very scary early, free loot later. :lunar2020ratinablanket:
Although yeah, there always a risk that the mimic act first in a fight, hence why, always keep extra weapons/armor on everyone if you can, only having one of each piece and selling everything else is just asking to get punished.
+ Changing weapons mid-fight is often an overlooked mechanic, don't sleep on secondary actions and weapon swapping.
Like the Friar being capable of using both physical vitality Maces and magical intelligence Wands along a shield.
