Mimics give too much loot and seem to be too common
I managed to successfully identify a mimic, but then went ahead and fought it anyway, because they give so much loot, and I did not regret that choice. I should not want to open mimic chests, it seems weird. Also of the 4 chests I have found, 3 of them have been mimics, I'll admit it isn't much of a sample size, but it seems far too much.

They give whatever a normal chest would give. You just have to fight for it.

Sure, but that doesnt change the fact that detecting a mimic is pointless since you should just fight it anyway.

Especially in early game they can be dangerous if you don't have to tools to make them more harmless, as they can basically destroy your gear.

You are correct, your sample size is too small. I've opened dozens of chests at this point and I'e encountered 1.

They give loot? Other than gold? Can't remember that ...
Also, if you're unlucky they destroy stuff your characters wear.

It varies. On my first run I got a handful, but on my second run I got more mimics than regular chests.

The loot doesn't feel unusual but the encounter does feel like it's feast or famine. One game every other chest is a mimic and another game you might encounter one for the whole run.

Guess you've never been in a final dungeon and found a mimic that proceeds to eat your weapon before the final boss.

I usually have backup weapons, and so its worth the risk. Though near the end of the game it might not be I guess. Just feels like if I doubt the treasure is all that good then I don't care if I detect anyway, I'll just happily ignore the chest.

A lot more convinient than swapping gear every time a random chest apears.
