Shared/Split Screen
Does anyone know if FTK2 will have shared/split screen?

Hi Vin, FTK II will launch with offline co-op on the same PC using the same screen although offline co-op requires players to pass a controller when a turn ends.
We'll be implementing multi-controller co-op next year which will enable players to still use the same screen but use multiple controllers without the need to pass.

Ace that's the information I'm looking for.

That's right, at launch you would pass your controller to the next player. The game will support multi-controller in offline co-op when we release FTK2 on console. There is no split-screen co-op, rather, you both use the entire screen with each turn being taken by the next player in the party. You take turns to control the game with one controller (or mouse/keyboard).

So to confirm, at launch on PC = Share the controller
Once we also launch on console = Multi-controller support will become available

But that's Singleplayer... That's how I played Mario 64 "CoOp" with my lil brother back in the day.

So there won't be local co-op on release.

Multi-controller support will become available on PC once we launch on console too. So you'll be able to gather around the same screen each with your own controller. Hope that helps!

Should I have two controllers on at the same time, would it be possible to at least have both controllers controlling the same thing? Just to avoid passing the controllers around.

This will be something that we add with the free update in 2024 :)

Seems like a bit of an oversight, no? Suppose I'll just wait for actual local co-op. Passing a controller is not ideal in any way.

Same here.

FTK I had no split screen to begin with so that's not what I would expect at all.

I expected at least the same level of comfort as with FTK I. I regularly met up with 2 buddies of mine and we would play the campaign. No need to pass the controller. Guess we wait for the update than. Disappointing since we already had a Launch Session planned...

Thanks for the clarification. Almost didn't pre-order. Local Multiplayer is a must for a game like this.

Is Remote play also implemented or is it something valve has to do ?

Just to be clear on this, is there a dedicated couch coop mode on launch, with stuff like assigning a character to each player and prompts on which player's turn it is for example (even if we have to pass the controller arund)? Or are you just saying we could swap around the controller in singleplayer mode since it's a turn based game anyway?

The game will prompt each character's turn just as it would in multiplayer or if you were playing alone, so it provides a clear distinction when someone's turn ends and starts.
