Save system?

In one of the (many glowing) reviews I read, one mentioned something about regardless of where you save, when you load the game it brings you back to the beginning of a chapter.
I apologize for not being able to find the review in question, but is that true?
I’m debating whether to buy this on Steam or on Switch, and while I’d rather play it on Switch, the system is shared in my family so I would often be quitting out of the game, so I am a little worried about losing progress? If that is the case I’ll go for the Steam version.

I read the same review (It was Destructoid's review.), but having played through 7 chapters now I've definitely saved mid-chapter in many of them and reloaded in the same place or just a smidge before I saved due to a likely save point.

I think the review in question either encountered a bug or maybe mistook saving? I'm not sure how often the Autosave updates, so maybe they just selected Continue from the main menu instead of loading their save?

But no, I've not encountered an issue on the PC where I was taken back to the start of a chapter after loading.

Oh that bodes well. Thank you. Hopefully the same is true of the switch version.

The checkpoints seems to be a bit random, the exact thing happened to me in chapter 6 where it only save later into that chapter. Even after accomplishing multiple tasks.

I'm thinking it may be a case where they simply forgot to create checkpoints during certain chapters. I imagine testing that would require trying to save and load at every possible transition and seeing where it loads back to.

So what happened to the reviewer is not meant to happen. The devs are looking into it to see what the issue was.
