Hey, I'm kinda dumb or missed it. But what actually word "hekki" is meant to be? Or it has just no actual meaning?

There's a researcher in the library who sort of obsesses over this poem. If you talk to her after the second commuinion (I think) she says that the common interpretation is that it's mostly just a meaningless little word, maybe as a form of greeting. So yeah, It's not really a word in universe either. Just another wrinkle of weirdness.

Yeah, I saw that one. I thought there would be more explanation about the poem in the end, but there wasn't. So, I was kinda confused.

It's my interpretation that it comes from the word "heck", which is very conspicuously used in the floating text during one communion, I think Healer's. I think it's a joke about the irony of a mild curse word that used to refer to evil now has been transformed as a sort of holy greeting.

Go to your keyboard.
Without looking, type the word
Hello
Move your right hand one space to the left and make the same finger movements.
If you type properly, you get
Gekki
But because of how the keys are staggered, I always type "y",and "h", with my left hand, so I get
Hekki

there's an answer to this in the Gaming in the Wild podcast interview with Remy from the Sunset Visitor team - https://x.com/gaminginthewild/status/1794047625106468963

Thanks for the pointer Chris, here's the answer in case someone doesn't want to go looking for the podcast:

It was a misspelling of "Hello" in the qwerty keyboard by way of placing your hands slightly wrong and not looking, made by the creator in their Slack channel. It then became an in joke and was added to the game.

That being said, process/intent by us does not always equate to how one may interpret it! I do like this reading of "heck," that we see people talking about! It's made us think about it in new ways :)

It was clocked by us that we don't say "heck" very much in the game. :)

Hmm, having in mind the researcher notes on the word, it always felt to me that "hekki" was something akin to the word "amen" used in some religion practices.
And having in mind that the belief on the ALLMOTHER borderlines the religious type, it sounded fitting!

I took it to be something like "hail"
If you interact with all the stuff in Iris' room you'll come across a poem that has it. The implication is that it was a typo when she was trying to type 'hello.'

I thought it meant "hate/to hell allmother", and was spread by Youngest. at times its fliped to Allmo hekki Allmothers hate. i began to think this after noticing allmo hekki being use in after sisters talking about allmothers anger.

It works for its intended purpose, its source being an in-joke or not. Language is a funny thing and mutates over time, so with the sisters culture being derived from an old world that is alien to them, having a botched slang-word become common usage is pretty much how things would work.

It doesn't really need a hard definition. A kind of mash-up of "heck", with vague usage like "hella" and "very/lots/great". Feels like its origin would have just been some entry in a certain persons journal, or a misremembered part of a story passed on. A thing a teenager would say but that mutated via the generational 'telephone' game.
